Honeymoon in Greece - looking for advice on where to stay!

Jessica, on January 10, 2020 at 12:07 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

Hi everyone! I’m trying to plan our honeymoon to Greece in July and was wondering if you had any tips!

We’re planning on flying to Athens for sightseeing for 2 days then going to one of the islands by ferry, but we don’t know which is best. We’re looking for a place that has beaches, nightlife, and some things to do.

Also, which part of Athens would you recommend we stay in to sightsee and then get on the ferries?

Thanks! 🇬🇷✌🏻🥂

Santorini is the most romantic, beautiful, surreal place that you would ever experience in your life. I highly suggest making a stop there!

We’re honeymooning in Greece in September! We’re going to Santorini (Oia and Thira) and then spending one day in Athens since our flight home is out of Athens. Based on our research, I’d say definitely look into Air BnBs vs. hotels. We found some places to stay with highly rated owner reviews and INCREDIBLE views and we’re significantly cheaper than the hotels.

FH & I also want to go to Santorini. Did you book your flights then book an AirBNB? I am so nervous when it comes to finally booking it

We actually booked our AirBnBs first. We wanted to make sure we had places to stay for reasonable prices before we booked flights. We didn’t want to end up with plane tickets to somewhere that was going to cost us an arm and a leg once we got there Smiley smile Once we booked our AirBnBs, we watched flights for about a week or two just to see how prices were and finally pulled the trigger when we realized they were pretty consistent.

We found it was really helpful to print a calendar for the time frame we wanted to go and write everything out so we had a clear schedule of where we were going to be on what days which made it a lot easier to book all of the travel.

We got engaged in Santorini! ❤️ It's beautiful... We also stayed two days in Athens as it was our round-trip airport. Athens has soooo much to see so I suggest getting a guide and deciding where you're priorities are. In Santorini we stayed at Armeni Luxury Villas in Oia. Not cheap, but we knew we wanted to splurge if we were staying in such a special location. The manager of the hotel was the best.

Oops, didn't finish. It's just 3 rooms at the villas so it'll book up fast. The manager actually helped my fiancé set up the proposal and she was so sweet and then helped arrange a special dinner the night after as well. If you're into wine, I suggest booking with Santorini Wine Tours. We had a great tour with them. Educational, intimate, but also fun! I would *not* suggest Spiridakos for a catamaran tour. If you want any more suggestions let me know. I'm actually gonna make a blog post about it so I can link you to that as well when it's up. 😊

Oh and to clarify when I said "get a guide" I mean a book guide. You certainly don't need to hire someone (unless that's what you're into).
