Honeymoon in Bora Bora - April 1

Kimmy, on March 18, 2020 at 7:38 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 8

We are from California and we are under "shelter-in-place." Our wedding has already been postponed. I don't know if we should cancel the honeymoon. I've been so depressed at home that I'd like a vacation and I'm sure so many of us feel the same way. We have a direct flight to Tahiti, which is less exposed to the virus than the States. We don't live with elderly people. Do you think we should go if we can get on the flight?

Wow that's a hard decison and I wouldn't want to make that decision for you. However I understand and so sorry with THE frustrating times of having to change your wedding date...i know airlines and hotels (i do believe) they are allowing you to change tour dates further out without being penealized

I have a friend in a similar situation. The airline is letting him get a credit etc. my concern is once you leave, that they stop air travel and you’ll be challenged coming back. Although staying longer in bora bora if your healthy doesn’t sound that bad.

If you can postpone it without a fee then it would be kind of nice to even though I know it would be a good getaway

I'd be concerned about not being able to get back/quarantined while there. They may stop letting people in from affected countries...

It's awful, but I think it might be best to postpone if you can.

It sounds like you’re asking whether it’s a good idea to fly from an area with a lot of coronavirus to an area with less coronavirus when either of you could be an asymptomatic carrier.

That is definitely not a good idea.

Nevermind. Today they cancelled the honeymoon for us. Only residents can travel to the French Polynesian.

Our wedding has been rescheduled to December. We have cancelled honeymoon instead of postponing. We’ll decide when and where to go for honeymoon later in the year as things develop.
