Honeymoon Glam

Hello! For the wedding I wanted more of a natural look and been a bit skeptical about things like lash extensions or microblading for the day of. There's just so many things that can go wrong in between that time and I am only 26 days away from the wedding. However, I was thinking to do lash extensions for my honeymoon. I am going to Maui for my honeymoon in October and wanted to cut down my makeup routine so I can enjoy more time exploring the island. Originally I was thinking to do microblading but decided against it because it takes time for brows to heal and it doesn't get its full color and shape until after touch ups which in this case will not work with the timing I have between my wedding and my honeymoon.

I was already planning on getting gel nails done for my honeymoon but I'm debating if I should get lash extensions for the honeymoon. I have small asian eyes so wearing false lashes can be challenging as they make my eyes look smaller especially with a thick band. I have tried the ones with the "invisible band" from Ardell and Kiss but I lack skill in applying lashes so it never looks right. lol.

Anyone else have their lashes done for their honeymoon? Would you suggest it or advise against it?

I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences Smiley smile.

On a side note: I never got lash extensions to I really don't know what to expect lol.

Just wanted to stop in and advise on doing microblading after your honeymoon if you still want to get it done! Like you said, it takes time to heal, and you have to get the touch up done 4-6 weeks after the original procedure (and you can't get your brows wet, sweat, or be in direct sunlight for 9 days after the procedure). My initial appointment was 7/9, and I had my touch up appointment 8/6. My eyebrows are finally healed from the touch up appointment, and I LOVE them!!!! Seriously, if you just decide you want to get microblading done, I would HIGHLY recommend it! It seriously changed my life! Smiley smile

I've never gotten lash extensions, but I know people that swear by them! They always look so good! I did get a lash lift about 2 years ago and wasn't too impressed, though. I already have long eyelashes so after the 2nd day, I couldn't really tell a difference.

Hi. Thanks for your input. Yeah I'm still interested in getting my brows microbladed but not in between my wedding and honeymoon cuz of the time frames and all the things you mentioned lol. I feel like lash extensions dont really have a healing period and only downside would be that you cant get them wet for the first day or 2. So overall it doesnt seem as risky.

I wouldn't recommend lash extensions if you've never had them before. I've had them 5-6 times, I'm not a fan. I just touch them all the time, I hate how they look when a few fall out, and they would turn a lot into my eyes. I also like really washing my face and not being gentle, so that wasn't fun for me to have to be super gentle around my eyes. I tried a lash lift & tint right before the wedding (big mistake). I loved the tint, but my lashes reacted weird to the lift and totally weren't in a natural shape. I had to go back the next day for an emergency relaxing and I had to take SUPER good care of my lashes the next week - like constant conditioning - so they didn't break or fall off due to being over processed. So if you haven't tried either of those prior, I wouldn't do them now. I'd either get a really small, simple fake lashes set for the day of or do individual fake lashes. Or get just a lash tint.

I agree, waiting on microblading is good. And I agree, gel nails is a good idea. I had a shellac pedicure & acrylic nails and they lasted through the wedding & honeymoon into a month later.

    Hi!
I actually just got lash extensions for the first time recently, but I was thinking of getting them done for my honeymoon as well. I rarely wear any makeup so it works well with my routine. However, I will say it was hard to maintain them! You can’t sleep on your stomach, rub your eyes at any time (and the adhesive was kind of itchy), and you can’t put mascara on them. That’s why if I ever were to get them done again, it would be for my honeymoon because I wouldn’t be wearing makeup at all. It’s all about balancing pros and cons tho! But wow it’s $$$$

I've heard mixed experiences with the lashes which is why I am a bit skeptical about it. Like you I like to wash my face without being gentle but actually it may be a good thing because I feel like I'm a bit too harsh on my eye area (I am 29 and I already have wrinkles around my eye that aren't considered "fine" lines lol). I do like the idea that with extensions you can wake up with lashes done but I am also aware that there is some maintenance required. I'm still weighing out my pros and cons. I definitely won't be getting it for my wedding but I am thinking just for the honeymoon. It will likely just be a one time thing since it's pricey to continuously do.

I actually have been able to get myself to sleep on my back more often since I been having back problems from sleeping in awkward positions so I think the main issue would be not being able to rub my eyes. I only use mascara maybe once or twice a week (usually weekends when I go out) so I am okay with not using it. I just wanted an extra kick to my lashes. I feel like every time I use mascara I rub too much to try to get it off (and this is not waterproof mascara) and because of that I am getting more wrinkles under my eyes. I was hoping with lash extensions it would help me from rubbing my eyes lol. I haven't really heard too much about people having the lash extensions itch unless the lash technician applies it too close to the lash line. But I know this can be easily done wrong. If I do go with lash extensions I would definitely go with one with a lot of reviews. As far as a costs, it'll probably be something I'd only do for special occasions (or basically just for my honeymoon or big trips). I actually won't be getting it for my wedding coming up.

Yeah I mean it works for a lot of people! I was not really a fan of how they felt and how I can’t rub my eyes 😂 but I recommend for honeymoon!

Yeah definitely. I'm aware that everyone has different experiences so I thought I'd listen to the pros and cons and kind of figure out if it would work for me. I know some things like not being able to sleep on your stomach or side is a deal breaker but for others it isn't. I'm just hoping I won't have bad luck and have it irritate my eyes to the point where they get red during my honeymoon. lol. But I've heard as long as you go to a reputable place it should be okay Smiley smile.

Yeah absolutely! I mean I itched my eyes like crazy but they still looked fantastic so it was worth it for the vacation I got them for 😂

Haha, I have a feeling I would itch them too since I tend to rub my eyes due to seasonal allergies (which sometimes I feel is all the time not seasonal lol). My honeymoon is only a week so I'm hoping not too much damage can happen between that time. After I get back I don't mind as much if it doesnt look as nice. But of course the longer it'll last the better. But honestly I really just want it to look decent for a week so I'll likely get it 2 or 3 days before I fly out.
