Honeymoon funds

Chelsea, on July 25, 2019 at 11:50 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7
I've seen on other discussions that Honeyfund isn't encouraging here. I am new to all this and actually don't know why or what exactly it is.. I plan to do my own research, but I figured I would ask on here too. What is Honeyfund? I know some wedding sites have honeymoon fund options, which are good to use? We would really benefit from extra money for our honeymoon rather than just home gifts for our wedding. What do you all recommend?
Thanks!!

Honeyfunds are essentially where guests gift money toward the cost of your honeymoon or different excursions on your trip. They're frowned upon because 1.) they take a portion of your cash gift 2.) it leads guests to believe that they're paying for you to go swimming with dolphins or for a candle light dinner (or whatever) when really the cash is just going to your account. Skipping the registry is so much easier and allows you to keep the entire gift rather than giving a portion of it to a second party.

I had a Zola one and it does charge a tiny fee. Most charge a fee. So it is convenient to have but it is inconvenient due to the fees

Oh but if you decide to have it, I do recommend to break it down by activities. Because people were way more willing to give to it when they know what it's going to exactly. Such as ticket to theme park or swimming activity, etc.

I started out with Honeyfund but later changed to Blueprint.

    Blueprint info:

To redeem funds: In Gift Tracker click the "Redeem Funds" button and follow the instructions to get your cash gifts. Each payout request is reviewed and completed in up-to 3 business days.

Bank transfers are completely free after your registry event date. The registry event date is listed on your registry, and may be viewed in your Event Settings.
There is only a fee for the PayPal transfer: 2.5% for each transfer.

All cash gifts are available 72 hours after they've been purchased for you. You may redeem a cash gift through a bank transfer and PayPal.

Overall these sites take a percentage of the money, which nobody likes. Also some guests don't like giving random money so it's encouraged to attempt to have a physical registry and money one
