Honeymoon Fund Online

Stephanie, on October 20, 2019 at 10:20 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 13
FH and I have been throwing around the idea of setting up a honeymoon fund through an online site so that our guests can gift us with meals, excursions, and other events on our honeymoon. We will have been living together for 2 years when we get married so we don’t need a lot from a typical registry. We will do something small at some place like target so that guests can do that if they prefer. My question is, has anyone found a good site for the fund? I have looked at a couple that have fees and I’m wondering if there is an option without or with a very small fee? Or just one that you have had a lot of success with! Since this is a fairly new concept, I want to make sure we are using one that is reliable! Thank you!!

I did Zola. They all have fees unless you redeem the money as gift card instead I believe

They all have fees, and after the wedding they'll just deposit the money into your account. Guests don't actually "purchase" activities for you. For that reason, some find them very deceitful/misleading. Honestly, if you just have a small registry to cover any bridal shower thrown for you and/or wedding guests who prefer to give a gift, most guests will likely give you cash or checks, which you can then spend on your honeymoon or anything else you want to. You won't pay a fee, and you won't risk offending those guests who might find a Honeyfund unappealing (FYI there are those who think they are very tacky, just so you know). Not registering for a honeymoon fund is actually a win-win!

Omgoodness... I'm in the same boat. My FH and I are both blessed with our own homes. So there really isn't much we need as far as gifts. A coworker talked me into setting up a Honeyfund account so our friends and family that wanted to donate could. I thought it was a neat idea but I didn't want to seem like I was begging for money. It's been 3 days, I have received 2 donations and then a very ugly message for someone I am not even friends with....

We used the Knot's website. You can customize and set amounts, and so on.

    It worked great!

All cash fund websites have a fee, or they wouldn't profit from the website. The best thing to do is not register, and guests will gift cash or checks in their cards. You'd have to skip a bridal or couples shower since you don't have a physical registry, but that's not a huge deal.

I think a honeymoon fund is a great idea! It's definitely more on the trendy side and not something everyone has heard about. But I think it's a more modern approach to a registry. I would definitely recommend you find some things you could use to put on a traditional registry so your older crowd or more traditional guests can get you gifts. But, it's a fun idea and why not?! I gifted a friend of mine dinner on the beach on her honeymoon as a wedding gift. I knew it was something she wanted because we talked about it in advance and she mentioned it. I put together a cute basket with travel essentials in it and wrote something up stating that they could have a nice, romantic dinner on the beach on me. I went through their travel agent to book and pay for it though. I found this article on brides.com , this might help with picking a good website to list your honeymoon fund through! I personally would rather know I'm getting someone a gift they'd actually like/would use. If you don't do the honeymoon registry, you may not get cash/checks like you think. Instead, people might gift gift cards for wherever you registered or somewhere else.

I’ll check the article out! I’m worried if we don’t give specific things, whether a registry or a honeyfund, we will just get random things people decide to gift us. Definitely not anything we want or need! Thank you!

True story! We will still do at least a small registry for our more traditional guests but since we really don’t need much we don’t want to leave too many options for random things we don’t need or want! Thanks!

People just can’t be happy for others can they! What website did you go through to set the fund up?

I don't blame you for worrying about that! I know people that have gotten random things even with registries.
