Honeymoon Fund jar for the reception! Creative suggestions?

I’m creating this honeymoon fund jar! I currently only have the lettering and a slit in the cork top. I was thinking of adding something cutesy, like palm tree stickers or an ocean background. I am shooting for cute and unique, as my wedding is laid back and outdoors. Any creative ideas will be...

I flagged them as off-topic, considering the topic was based on creativity and I didn’t get any answers or opinions to help me on this post. 😊

Are you doing this in place of a card box or in addition to it?

I’ve seen it put next to the card basket at other weddings. I’m serious, where I’m from people are incredibly laid back. We are only inviting friends and family. I don’t think our guests would be offended at all, considering I went to a local wedding and not one person (I knew almost everyone there) thought the wedding hosts were taking advantage of them.

Well I think it’s cute! I’ve seen this at tons of weddings also and have never thought it was tacky. I think waves, sea animals, or even the Jamaican flag would be cute idea for your jar. Oh and btw...we are raffling off a shotgun at our wedding to go towards our honeymoon!😂

Aw those are great ideas!! Thank you 😊 and oh my gosh, that is so cool! Lol. Everyone does things differently and every community is different. It’s your day with your family and friends, you do your thing 😘

My creative idea is to put it on your own house to put your spare change in. That's what it's for.

I'm confused by your idea, do you want people to take money out of their cards and move it into the jar instead, or to give you your gift/card and then give you their spare change as well. Either option seems inconsiderate to your guests.

Well said Lindsey! The people that disagree with you did not bring a creative idea to your post, which is what you were asking for initially. Do what makes you happy!

I think it's a cute idea. I think this is a good substitute for the money dance. I don't think its tacky. Many cultures give money at weddings, so people saying it's tacky can not speak for everyone. Im middle eastern and we ONLY give money as gifts. Do what you feel is right Lindsey.

Jesus. The comment section is a minefield over here. Cute idea in my opinion, but I'd put like some paper in there or something. Maybe scrapbook paper? It'll keep it a surprise until the end of the wedding for you, and make prying hands a LITTLE bit less tempted, plus, you can put your stickers and stuff on there. Good luck!

It’s simply an idea I’ve seen at weddings around here and online. The community in this town don’t seem to mind the idea. I don’t think it will offend my guests, basing my assumptions off of previous weddings. Not trying to be inconsiderate, but I know as a guest at a wedding I wouldn’t be offended and I’d contribute if I cared to.

Exactly! Individual WW users cannot speak for everyone. Every community/culture is different and no one can emphasize what's acceptable and what's tacky because that's their own personal opinion and that's not universal.

Exactly how I feel. I posted this very innocently not realizing what I was getting into. I didn’t realize something so minuscule could be so offensive. Lol.

That is a cute idea!! I was thinking of maybe lightly watercoloring a piece of paper with cool-tone ocean colors and sticking it in there. I will definitely experiment with your idea Smiley smile

I don't even care about the jar after seeing someone is selling tickets to a raffle at their wedding and the prize is a freaking SHOTGUN I am dead. I can't.

Sadly, some of the WW community becomes sensitive when it anyone mentions anything about possibly doing or made the decision to have a honeymoon fund. I'm sorry that you were attacked over a simple post. I actually know how it feels because I have experienced the same negativity over one of my post on WW. Lindsey, I think you should do what makes you happy and you know your guests better than anyone on WW. You know what to do! Don't worry! To respond to your post, I think it would be cute to add palm trees and the country's flag that you and FH are going to travel to for your honeymoon.

No one was attacked. Everyone just gave their opinions. Most tried to explain that guests would already be giving a gift or money in a card so having a jar to ask for more money to fund your honeymoon is tacky.
