Honeymoon & Christmas with our son - 4 or 5 nights in Cancun?

Haley, on August 16, 2021 at 12:45 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 5
Hi everyone,

My fiancé and I are planning our honeymoon to Cancun right after we are married on December 18. We for sure want to leave on Sunday, the 19th but are currently struggling with when to return. I’m apprehensive about returning on Christmas Eve and the earliest flight home would land on the 24th at 7:15pm. We have a two year old at home and cannot miss our special Christmas time with him. I’m leaning towards retuning on the 23rd but my fiancé would rather return on the 24th.
Any insight as to what you would do in this situation?
Thanks so much!

We are doing 4 nights away too because of our kids, so I think thats fine.

We have a two year old as well. Our flights going and coming from Cancun last month were delayed and the time that you will be traveling will be very very busy so take that into consideration. I’ve worked every holiday since my son was born except for the first one since he was born close to close to Thanksgiving/Christmas.

He’s young he doesn’t know or understand too much about holidays. Even if you don’t get to celebrate on the exact day as long as you celebrate and take pictures as mementos I don’t think coming back on the 24th is an issue.
You’re going to miss him everyday but you guys also need time for yourselves. Take the extra day and soak up the alone time with your husband.

I think 4 nights is enough time, especially since you have a kid at home I'm sure that you'll miss. Keep in mind flights can be very expensive during the holidays. If your future husband really wants 5 nights then consider delaying your trip until a few weeks into the new year. That could be a compromise so he gets his full trip but you still make it home for the holidays.

I would do the 23rd just incase there are any delays and because the airports will be busy. I'm right with you, I absolutely refuse to miss Christmas with our son. You could also take a later honeymoon in January!

I would personally go with the 5 nights. When traveling, you basically spend a whole day going there and another going back, so 5 nights really gives you only 3 solid days of waking up on vacation and going to bed on vacation. If you aren't comfortable cutting it so close with the 24th, I would probably delay the honeymoon a bit so you can actually take the time and enjoy it.
