I did a family vacation to Punta Cana about 7 years ago. One of our excursions was amazing and one was the worst we've ever had. The good one involved dune buggies and swimming in a cave. The bad one was sold as a half day outing. Half of that outing was a 3 hour drive each way (that my dad and sister both vomited during) to a simple catamaran boat ride and some time on a beach, which was not at all worth it when we lived in Florida. There had to be something similar closer, I have no idea why the resort pushed that particular excursion so hard. So moral of the story - no matter how good something sounds, ask how long the commute is!

View Quoted Comment It might not always be the excursion timing itself that's the issue. If your actual excursion time is 8-10 hours, great! If it's 6 hours or less after factoring in commute, maybe not so much. My family always books excursions with the resort when we get there (so you're sure they're legit, you have safe transport, etc.) and you can ask these types of questions then. If you want to book before, maybe you can call/email and ask?

View Quoted Comment Dominican and we got the resort from bookit.com and the flights from justfly.com. just so happens that they had great deals going on at the time. It was like half off the resort.
