Honeymoon and Covid?

Jaime, on August 31, 2020 at 9:45 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 8
Hey all, my husband and I just got married on Saturday August 29, it turned out beautiful! I’m feeling a little down now (post wedding blues). Since right now travel is risky and uncertain and my job is requiring a quarantine as of right now. I was thinking about planning our honey moon for January/February 2021 (hopefully) I think planning a honeymoon will help take away from the post wedding blues even though it was a gorgeous day and I married my best friend! What’s everyone doing for their honeymoon during the pandemic. Any good ideas on where to go?

I think if you are going to utilize honeymoon planning as a “Pick me up”, You may want to consider pushing it out to late 2021, or even 2022, otherwise it may end up turning into more of a headache and disappointment than a mood booster. Many of the experts are claiming cases are going to spike again in the fall/winter, so travel restrictions, etc. may be strict in Jan/Feb. Unless, however, you want to plan a COVID-19 friendly honeymoon at that time (ie, a place you do not have to fly to, could social distance, is not likely to be shut down if restrictions become strict again, etc.). Maybe you could even plan a romantic weekend getaway for the two of you (maybe rent a cabin somewhere close enough to drive). If you do decide to plan a big honeymoon in early 2021, make sure you check with the airlines as to whether tickets are refundable or transferable, etc.

We scrapped our Aruba plans for now and did a New England trip to visit New Hampshire and Maine earlier this month. It was so relaxing and wonderful to have gotten away shortly after our wedding. We love seafood so we ate a lot of it and took in the beautiful beaches and scenery. We purposely chose an area of the country that wasn’t a “hot spot” at the time. Our backup choice would have been the mountains of Colorado. I would advise waiting until closer to the holidays, and then plan a domestic trip for now, and determine where to go based on what state has the lowest case counts and risk involved. Hopefully one of the warmer states will be in a good place for you to have a safe visit! I think it’s important to plan something special for the two of you, even if it’s not what you originally envisioned. I think I would have struggled more with the post wedding blues if we hadn’t done anything too!

Thanks for your advice! I’m thinking we may do a mini moon to the Mountains around Christmas and then hopefully do a tropical bigger honeymoon in the spring if everything is looking good!

This sounds amazing! Double honeymoon. 🥰 You’ll see that no matter where you go, it’s just nice to get away alone as a newly married couple. ❤️

We got married May 16th and will be going away to the poconos Nov 25 to the 29th. We rented a cottage from AirBNB and plan on hiking, wineries, black friday shopping etc.

Our honeymoon is in February and we're booked for St. Lucia with Sandals Resorts. We had gotten word not too long ago that everything is still good to go for that time frame. No restrictions or cancellations or anything. I know a lot can happen between now and then so we're just waiting to see if it works out for us.

    Congrats!

I'd also maybe push it out a little longer than winter, but certainly start researching where you'd want to go!
