NextChapterReady, on May 31, 2019 at 10:23 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 7

We are going on honeymoon to Australia and Tahiti (specifically Cairns, Sydney, and Moorea!) Has anyone done this and do you have any recommendations on what to do and good restaurants, etc? We're so excited to have this adventure together! Smiley smile Smiley heart

So exciting! I haven’t been so can’t give advice on locations. But we’re going to New Zealand, and their travel website is bomb. They have so much info breaking down what there is to do in each are. Maybe Australia has a similar tourist website?

Following because Australia/New Zealand is pretty high on our list of honeymoon options. The long flight would be kind of brutal, but I think it'd be a really fun trip.

Congrats, that'll be amazing! I haven't been yet but we're planning on Australia for our honeymoon as well (Sydney, Adelaide, and Brisbane). Smiley smile

Aw thank you! We are hoping so too haha Smiley smile Do you have any plans for Sydney yet? We were thinking about doing the opera house and Bondi beach? We are definitely doing the Blue Mountains tour one day and the Sydney Harbour Night Bridge Climb! Smiley smile

I can’t say much for Cairns as I’ve only been to the airport on my way to Port Douglas, which is a very cute town. I live in Sydney so can help a bit there,

For fine dinning Bennelong (at the opera house), Cafe Sydney and Rock Pool are all excellent. I’ve been to all three and all are amazing! Cafe Sydney has the best view.

Was also going to suggest the bridge climb, so if heights don’t bother you do that. What time of year are you going? If it’s during our winter you can go whale watching from Sydney. Toranga Zoo is supposed to be good, but I haven’t been yet. Featherdale and Symbio are also great wildlife parks, where you can feed wallabies and small kangaroos. But I believe they are only accessible by car, not public transport. Make sure you get into darling harbour to see the aquarium. They also have a wildlife park there but it’s not as “hands on” from memory.

Go to Bondi if you want the “tourist” feel and just to see it. It’s not an overly special beach and supper crowded. There are much better beaches around Sydney in my opinion.

Sounds like a bug trip already but if you can find a way to get a bit of the outback experience I would try your best to do that. I got engaged at Uluru and it’s a fair expensive trip on its own due to its isolation, but something very unique to Australia. If you can find an outback day tour from Sydney or Cairns (not sure if they offer any as I know they are close to rain forests) I would recommend it!

    Hope this was helpful
