HoneyFund

Erin, on April 15, 2011 at 4:40 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Is anyone here using Honeyfund for their registry? If so...how does it work? Do they nail you with transaction fees and take a percentage? We're not registering anywhere else because we don't need anything.

I am having a tough time deciding on this issue. What are you guys going to register for on Honeyfund?

Well, I was messing around with it just now and there seem to be a couple of option you can choose. One is an option where the guest enters the amount they want to contribute to the honeymoon. The other option is that you set amounts, such as "Airfare: $20" "Car Rental: $30". So guests can pick what to put their money towards for your honeymoon. I have to mess with it more but I was just wondering any feedback on it.

We use Honeyfund, but we still find that many of the older family members insist on getting us actual physical gifts so we, reluctantly, have a few other registries as well. Also, Honeyfund takes a small percentage out if you use PayPal so watch out for that. We are going to direct people who want to give us money towards our Honeymoon that they just give us cash that we can use towards the trip.

Honeyfund was flawless. They were easy and I had no problems. Everything is detailed and easy to keep up with. It was fun and you can make it what you want....

We decided to go with UponOurStar (www.uponourstar.com) instead- they all work similar, but I loved the option to have it be more universal and include some non-honeymoon items too (for our house we are getting into shape!). So far, we are pretty happy with it- and I think people that are a little old school like to still see some traditional stuff.

Honeyfund is totally FREE unless you link your paypal account to it. We didn't give our guests that option, they click what they want to pay for, it totals it up for them they make a pledge to give you that amount in either check or cash and they print the certificate, write a little note, sign it and give it to you in a card with the amount of money they pledged to give you. Simple as that. It's an easy way to have your guests give you money. My guests loved it and so many of them said they wished they had thought about doing it for their wedding. I say go for it!

Also, I would suggest you have at least one other registry (we used target) for some small items and giftcards. You will have older guests and people who want to be more traditional and get you gifts. You will probably end up with useless gifts that you have to take back if you don't. We already have our house and most things we need, but we did find a few things we would like to have any added them to target and we had 4 people buy from that instead of honeyfund.
