Ok guys so I’m planning on having my wedding at my aunts house since her backyard is extremely spacious and pretty. However the ceremony and reception will be done there.. as I’m planning I thought how am I going to pull this off!!?? How will I be able to setup for the reception/dinner and what do I have my guest do in the meantime 😮? Any pointers or suggestions are appreciated.

If you want to use the same space for the ceremony and reception, I would suggest moving guests inside for a cocktail hour (or two) while someone else/a group of people flip the space. Your guests can have champagne and hors d’œuvres and chat, you can get some pictures done, and they can use the time to take down the ceremony set up and redecorate for the reception.

We had our tables all set up when guests arrived and placed all the chairs at the ceremony area of the yard. After the ceremony, guests went into the house for drinks and appetizers while a couple of vendors brought the chairs to the reception part of the yard. It took only a few minutes and honestly I didn't even see it happening.

Thank you ladies! Yes I’m thinking of that I just don’t know if I really want people inside but it seems like that maybe the only way to do it

Did you price out costs before committing??? Oftentimes it seems a backyard wedding ends up being the same as a venue because you have to rent lots of un-fun items (chairs, tables, portable bathrooms, lighting) in addition to fun decor (linens, uplights, etc).

Yes, we actually did and venues would still cost more with more restrictions, however I was going to check out a few other venues so we will see if those win is over. But you are correct home weddings aren’t necessarily easier or cheaper

You will have to have a cocktail hour to have time to flip; however, I saw pictures of one wedding that had the tables already set up on both sides of the aisle. Guests sat there opposed to traditional row seating (it was raining on their wedding day). If you would like something like that, most of your reception décor would already be set up. The only additional thing to do would be to have food set up and things like that. If your aunt's yard has a large enough space or an area like a porch, you could already have the food set up as well. I think that would be the easiest thing to do, but you have to decide if you would be ok with doing something practical like that. I know personally, I would be ok to have the tables and stuff already set up in my photos, but I wouldn't want the food in them if you get what I'm trying to say.
