Home then name change

Honey, on August 24, 2020 at 8:32 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4
Hello! My fiancé and I will start the process of buying a home next year. But we won’t get married until 2022.

Has anyone done this and had trouble changing their name afterwards on the house deed or was this a smooth process for you?
Advice welcomed!!

All I needed was a copy of my new social security card.

In Colorado at least, you just file a quitclaim deed. It needs to be notarized & sent in, but it's super easy. For our mortgage & insurance, I had to email them copies of my new social security card & driver's license & our marriage license. It was no harder than anything else was.
