Hollow to hem 60 inches

Catherine, on April 6, 2018 at 2:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Hi ladies,

I found a dress online that I really love its a Cocomedoly LD3569. I am getting it custom made to my measurements. However, I am concerned that the hollow to hem measurement of 60 inches will be to short. I am 5’8 and want to wear shoes less than one inch.

I wanted to know should I be worried about the length of the hem and should I add extra length or, is 60 inches just enough length.

thanks

That measurement sounds about right. If possible, contact your dress retailer and ask if you can get a measurement for the dress from top-to-hem. Also, ask how much hem allowance the dress has. A lot of formal and wedding gowns have at least a 1.25" hem and some even upwards of 2". So, even if it's a little short, you can have a local seamstress/tailor alter the hem for you.

That's a pretty standard hollow to hem measurement. I'm a little taller than you and all the dresses I've tried on with that measurement have been a perfect length. But if you're doing custom size, can you also provide them a measurement for that?

Yes, I can provide them with a measurement. I am just worried due to the fact that I haven’t physically tried this dress on and won’t be able to so until it is in my possession.

Have you tried on any other dresses in shops? As I said, the standard measurement for hollow to hem is 58-60 inches, so if you have seen how those fall, you'll have a better idea. I am apparently the perfect height for standard length wedding dresses and don't need a hem or extra length. So it's very unlikely that 60 inches would be too short unless you plan on very high heels.
