Hoboken Pier

Has anyone used Hoboken Pier for their ceremony? If so did you need a permit?

We do ceremonies there all the time, but they are very small ones. Like 6 people. I don't believe you can set up chairs out there, and of course there is no electricity so if you've got a crowd, it won't work.

The "gold coast' in NJ is a little problematic. There is not a lot of public space, and what there is isn't especially user friendly for weddings.

    Where is your reception venue?

Thank you. We are planning for something as small as 6 Of us. We just want to exchange vows there because it's a very special place to us. Next year we are doing the big one. Do You know if a permit is needed? We would hate for the pastor to try to file the marriage license and it becomes void. Can you please tell me the process?

BeachyLauren I'm doing the research which is why I'm asking those who have experience there since the city has yet to return my calls.

BeachyLauren, Celia has been officiating in NJ for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if she did know the answer to help Mrs. Ramos. She's helped me with recommendations and advice for areas of my wedding that had nothing to do with the ceremony.

We have never gotten a permit for that small a group on that pier. But here is Hoboken's info; (note, you get your license from your home town, not from Hoboke; Hoboken is where it will be returned.)

You might want to try a pier in Jersey City? There's a bunch of space down by Exchange and I know for a fact some of it is used for weddings and there's also Liberty State Park. All of it's got NYC views.

You can't have a ceremony at Liberty State Park, no matter how small. They're very vigilant about it.

On their website, Liberty State Park lists you can apply for a Special Events Permit to host a wedding. It must be done 90 days in advance, but is possible with the correct steps.
