Hobby Lobby!

m, on February 13, 2015 at 11:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

So, I live 2 hours from the nearest hobby lobby, so I don't get to pop in very often.

I'm going tomorrow, and made FH promise me I get uninterrupted time in the store.

I have a few things I'm looking for, but what are your good HL finds? What kind of things did you make from things you got there? Looking for signs (program signs, menu, etc), maybe some moss letters, table numbers and escort cards, and maybe some table decorations.

Any inspiration?? I have one shot before I have to drive four hours round trip again!

I bought the majority of my frames there. for my signs and for framing a couple of our engagement photos to put on display. their frames are always on sale.

i got a really cool rustic chalkboard. it looks like it's an old cupboard door or something with hinges one side.

i also bought open barnwood frames that i strung with jute string for our escort card displays.

i'll post pics in a minute...

I know at my Hobby Lobby at least this week is the 50% off wedding items sale. If you plan on printing your own programs or invites it would be a great time to buy them. I do know that they sell fake moss and that they have wooden letters as well so you should be able to DIY that pretty easily. They have some pre-made signs as well and also carry chalkboard signs back with the rest of the chalkboard items. Also, in some of the wedding aisles they do have little inspiration sheets for centerpieces and such.

I got all of my flowers at HL (we are doing silk). I thought they had a larger floral selection than Michaels.

KM.... what kind of paint on those votives? Just a wide brush and a lazy susan and go to town? I have 200 small glass votives, and would love to jazz some up! And yes, looking for a card box, and maybe even a small ring box??

These are our escort card displays that i made and a couple of the frames i bought.

i got a great little card box with a chalkboard label space on the front at the AT HOME store. idk if you have those near you... i found a couple great frames there on sale cheap too. that's been my second favorite store for wedding stuff.

i didn't do as many DIY projects as i thought i would. once i started wedding planning i was like, 'screw that.' i just started throwing money at shit. :/ we're renting all of our candle votives and vases from our florist.

Oh I am so sad for the people that have to drive 2 hours to Hobby Lobby. I guess I am spoiled.

On that note, I got a sign in my wedding colors that says "Hello Love". They had a clearance sale on those Marquee letters, $35 for the letter and they were about 16" tall. I got feather to add to my bouquet. I got cardstock to make my table numbers. There is so much, enjoy your time!

I happened to go on a 50% off all wedding items & then again on a 50% off all floral. So I got all of our invites for a total of $25 for 150 invites. I just have to print myself, which isn't to bad. Then I got all of my BMs bouquets cause they wont be doing real flowers. My mom went and got favor bags, table numbers and a ton of artsy stuff. Good Luck!

Already printed! My phone has a habit of dying at the worst times. I also have FH set up to buy the second item if I have two expensive items to get more off.

I worked for hob lob for four years. ha! Love it too, but the closest one is an hour away. So I go to Michaels, which is okay but does not compare!

P.s. Look for moss in the floral aisles or in the hobby area, like trains and model cars and stuff.

I also set FH up with a coupon and some cash to buy stuff and use coupons. ha!

Honestly the only thing I purchased from HL for our wedding was a few large, ornate frames, a wreath to go around our card box (which is a pumpkin) and a garland for our archway (fall items). I was very disappointed.

I love the Hobby Lobby here! They recognize me, I am in there so much. in my free time I like to be crafty and I also make tutu's. So far I have got the supplies for making STD's, invites and rsvp cards and also will be getting the rest of supplies for finishing my centerpieces.

@KM - I love those votives! thanks for sharing the link Smiley smile
