I am Hispanic and will be putting Hispanic elements in but have chosen not to go the full Hispanic wedding vibe. We will be doing a Spanish reading. We are playing Spanish music. We will not be doing the money dance. We will have a madrina and padrino but they are not family and will not be paying for anything.

    I am!
    Traditional:
Mariachi, Banda, víbora de la mar, Taquero.
Non-traditional: non-religious ceremony, no padrinos (we are paying it ourselves), no money dance

They are serving as the godparents of the wedding and will be officiating together and giving us advice as we movie forward in married life. I do not personally like the idea at all of a money dance. I think It would be awkward and it’s asking at lot. We already have many expensive gifts on the registry. We have been saving for a while and will be coming out on top for the wedding. No need to be greedy.

That's sweet! We are having a church wedding so I am having a couple godparents only for the church objects. Yeah that makes sense! I had not even remembered about the money dance, and yeah asking people for cash on the spot is odd!

We will also be teaching a few people the merengue and salsa if they want to dance to the Spanish songs. I forgot about that one. Other than that though a lot of my Spanish family won’t be there so we are keeping it pretty normal.

    how fun!!

the majority of our wedding guests are our family so it will be 90% mexican people so definitely want to incorporate a lot of our traditions.
