His & her drinks

Caylin, on June 9, 2019 at 4:20 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

My husband loves a strong whiskey! He wants his drink on our bar menu to be a Manhattan- we were both curious if that is a common drink at weddings? I still haven't picked out a drink for my choice yet ( any reccomendations are welcome) ...We will also be having a lot of beer and some bottles of champagne.

Manhattans aren't popular in my circle, but I also live in Kentucky where bourbon neat is more popular than any mixed drink. There are several variations of a "blushing bride" floating around. You could really make any fruity pink drink and give it that title. I had one at a wedding that was vodka, peach schnapps, lime juice, and cranberry juice and it was really good!

Manhattans are popular with anyone who likes Rye whisky, and many people make them with a blended whisky or distilled corn liquor as well. Our bartenders mixed any drink we had the basic liquors for, and we were well stocked. At the wedding, and a full afternoon and evening barbecue the next day, 180 adults at each, less than 6 ounces of Vodka or Gin were poured, and almost no bourbon. But scotch, rye, blended whisky, tequila, and distilled corn liquor, and white rum went fast by the 1.75 liter bottles. Know your area and crowd. It has been a popular standard bar drink since WWII, and every New England and NY State caterer or restaurant I worked for sold lots of them.

That's my favorite drink so I would do it. You don't have to do what is common or popular. I'm sure people would drink it.

I literally found and taste tested a drink with my FMIL today of dry rosé wine, cointreau, and cranberry juice that we will be calling a "blushing bride" for my signature drink! It was delicious. I'm thinking of also seeing how it is with a splash of club soda, but we didn't have any. FH is still trying to figure out his drink, which will most likely be whiskey based. He asked if he can just have bourbon neat or on the rocks as his signature drink and I said he's gotta be more creative than that lol. We're also in NJ, where that is probably less common than Kentucky.

OP, manhattans aren't that popular where I'm at, but whiskey sours are, so that's another classic option.

Manhattans are very popular in my circle, and was actually what I drank at my wedding, though if he’s a whiskey guy I’d personally go Old Fashioned 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyway, you know your circle, go with that.

I love when i see signature drinks that have been crafted for the couple. like an original take on your go to bar drink. it adds your personality into the drink.

My fiance drinks old fashions way more than manhattans, so I'm not sure.
