Hiring Wedding Party

So throughout my time here on WeddingWire I’ve noticed that a lot of brides or grooms feel as though they have to have either an even number of bridesmaids/groomsmen on each side, or in some cases where some people don’t have anyone at all on one side but their SO does etc.
I personally never cared about that and I’ve always thought it should be the most important people on your side that you want there that you cant imagine your day without.
I’ve also noticed on WeddingWire that weddings sometimes bring out the worst in people, to be quite frank. There are also some brides that have rather high demands and expectations of their bridal party then others do. Which is all good and well if that’s how you feel about it.
However, I have to say I feel as though a large majority of people sometimes treat their bridal parties as either props for their wedding photos, or as if they are hired workers/Personal assistance that are supposed to put their year of life aside to jump to your every beckoned call for their weddings.
It’s all good either way but here’s my question…I’m wondering if there’s any of you out there that have ever thought about hiring bridesmaids or groomsmen to be in your wedding party?
Especially for people that don’t have much sentimental value towards having people by your side.
I feel like people are so concerned with photos and even numbers etc., instead of ruining friendships, or asking people to be in your party that you don’t know, or putting way too much pressure on people… Why don’t people just hire paid actors instead?
Yes obviously this sounds so crazy, but after reading some posts it seems like it might be the safest way to go for some...
I’m excited to hear everyone’s unfiltered point of view on this specific issue

Thank you for this post, I needed the laugh today. I too will never understand how people treat their closest friends like props and then wonder why their friendship isn't the same as before.

A people who would be hired would know how to answer questions about how they met the bride or groom , etc ... Especially if tou hire actors/actress/ stand up comedian because i'm 5000% sure the couple would brief them/ give them a kond of storyline to learn and tell , not a big deal for actors-actress since they can learn them pretty quickly and act as if it would be natural , it's their job after all LOL.
I wouldn't be surprised that some brides or grooms would do it, especially hiring them to be a MOH/Best man. And the actors-actress-stand up comedians would have 1 more line to add to their CV 😄.

This reminds me of the Kevin hart movie the wedding ringer. It was really good, the groom didn't have any friends and hired Kevin harts character as best man.

Fun story: I was a bridesmaid in one of my best friend's weddings, and a rumor spread around the guests that I was a hired bridesmaid. I think it was a combination of guests not recognizing me (I look very different "dressed up") and being considered "more attractive" than the rest of the bridal party (other people's words, not mine, but I was a fitness model at the time). Someone apparently even suggested I was a Disney princess actress from the parks (we live in Orlando) that was hired to "fill out the party and make it look better." Her mom was having to tell people that she did not actually hire a model to be in the wedding party. (At the time I was actually kind of insulted, considering I was one of her best friends for ten years - I'd helped her plan the wedding! But now I look back on it and just laugh, because people are ridiculous.)

I remember seeing "professional bridesmaid" ads once upon a time. The idea was that they would also do the "job" of being a bridesmaid - they would coordinate everything with your other bridesmaids, sort of like a bridal assistant, doing all the stuff that bridal magazines seem to demand MOHs do now. But they were also always quite pretty so they would look nice in your photos.

Wow! OK this just gave me an idea LOL imagine if a bride was having a fairytale Disney princess themed wedding and she hired princesses like a bell Elsa snow white etc. to be her bridesmaids lol!!! Oh my God I wish I could be a guest at that wedding
