Hiring from Craigslist

What do you ladies think about hiring vendors off of craigslist? I have found a DJ, photographer, and videographer that I am interested in. But I am reluctant because I am affraid to be scammed.

It is highly unlikely to be a scam if you are meeting with the person and discussing the services, or signing a contract. It's not any different than getting their number from a friend. I got lots of vendors on Craigslist and they turned out great. I even traded services to get a photographer for FREE!

I think a resource list is the same as any other list, you still need to meet with them and make sure they are the real thing.

For example as an officiant, I meet with couples all the time as they tell me it is important there is a personality connection. Of course I don't charge them nor are they obligated to work with me.

So whether it is Craigslist or Wedding wire you need to meet with them

I just have to say, make sure they are a pro... as someone had stated before: if you think hiring a professional is expensive, try hiring an amateur.

I would not worry to much. I have hired a couple of vendors from Craigs list and every thing worked out just fine. Just remember to ask the photographer and the videographer for examples of their work and make sure they have several examples of their work. And ask the DJ were they will be playing next, if your lucky you might be able to sneak a peek of there work.

I agree with the ladies here, be careful. Always ask for references. Don't just hire them, meet with them first. (I am sure you knew that) Good luck to you hunny!! Smiley smile
