Hiring a Prof Honeymoon Photographer

Sara, on June 28, 2019 at 4:36 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 5

I've been debating back and forth whether or not I want to have a honeymoon photo session while we are in Maui, Hawaii. I thought it would be a great way to remember the honeymoon with some nice photos of us as "newlyweds". However, I'm not sure if it's all worth the price...

Here's the low down:

The package costs $375.00

1. 30 high resolution photos

2. Online gallery and printing rights

3. 1 hour session

4. 1 outfit change

5. 2 photographers

Would you say it's worth it?

P.S. it is in the budget, so that's not an issue - just want to know if it's a smart investment.

Is that only 30 photos total? Personally I wouldn’t think that’s worth it

I agree with Gen - is that a guaranteed minimum of 30 photos or just a flat 30? That would make the difference for me.

Initially my thought is not worth it but because you get rights to the photos for that price it may be. Maybe see if you can negotiate only 1 photographer and a 30 minute session for more photos? I just did a family photo shoot for an hour with 8 people and easily could’ve gotten away with a 30 minute session. Also I personally would be happy with 1 outfit since it’s the honeymoon so possibly another negotiation point but obviously that depends on what you want.

We did a photo shoot on our minimoon in our wedding clothes. It was so fun to put my dress back on(I guess you didn’t mention wearing wedding clothes thought). Our session was an hr and we got 110 pictures back. It was In Disney, so we paid a lot more. So, To me, that price is great, lol!
But, maybe try to negotiate the price. I don’t think you need 2 photographers for a honeymoon shoot. We had one and an assistant. The assistant fluffed my dress and arraigned my veil, that’s it. And ask about more photos or getting prints from them.
$375 seems a bit higher than I’ve seen for similar sessions, but not outrageous. You could alway keeps shopping around for another photographer.

We went to Disney for our honeymoon and received a Memory Maker for my shower - we got nearly 400 photos of the two of us over an 8 day period (ride photos, photopass photos, etc) for less than $200 - now to be fair, it wasn't a photoshoot, per se. It's really nice to be able to go back and look at all the pictures though - and we printed some for display on our wall.
