Hiring a florist

Kassidy, on August 21, 2019 at 10:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 16
Our wedding is a little more than a year and a month from now, I have the venue and photographer booked, when should I book a florist? I’ve been looking on Instagram and found a few I’m interested in but don’t know if I should contact them just yet.

Hi! I don’t have a specific answer for you but we are getting married in April and we are doing our florist/decor meetings this week and next week. So you probably could start doing that soon. Our wedding planner said it’s good to have the caterer booked before the decor. Why? I’m not really sure but I trust her haha.

I went in for some initial meetings last year, but my florist isn’t actually placing the order until a few weeks before. I’m prob doing my final meeting to make sure it’s exactly what I want next week. My wedding is oct 5th 2019

Mine is about the same; October 2020. I'm looking into Florists now, but I was thinking of giving it a month or two before booking the florist.

There’s really no such thing as too early. If you found someone you’re interested in, I would reach out to them ASAP.

If you call them now they should be able to tell you when you should call back to follow up with them.

I agree! Especially October weddings. It’s a BUSY month for weddings (even here, on Kaua’i) and I reached out to one I loved five months ago and she was already booked. (My wedding is 10/12/19). If you find something you love, do it.

Nothing wrong having meetings now and finding one you like. I booked mine last March (2018) and my wedding is next week.
Also you have a VERY popular wedding date so if you have the time I would look and find the vendors you want!

It doesnt hurt to look at the options, compare prices and what not this early. I am an august 2020 wedding and that is what I am doing. If the price is right and the florist fits your need, might as well get one more thing checked off your list

I started looking into florists about a year out and at first I thought I was way too ahead of myself but it turns out I had such a difficult time finding a reasonably priced florist that I liked that it ended up taking me months so I'm glad I started early. I finally found someone I liked and signed a contract but we are not finalizing anything until the first week of September. There's no harm in starting your search now.

We booked ours about 8 months in advance. But since Oct 2020 is going to be a big month for people (you know how everyone likes to pick the fun dates), I would say sooner the better.

My first and second choice florists were already booked for my May 2020 wedding when i first began reaching out in May this year. For some, their April and Octobers were booked as well. If you have a number one, I'd get them on the line now before others snatch your date!

I’m getting married in June and we have our first meeting with a florist this Saturday. It wouldn’t hurt to start looking now Smiley smile
