Hiring a Caricature Artist for Reception?

Patricia, on September 18, 2019 at 9:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hey , I really need your opinion on this. I brought up the idea of my family and FH about hiring a Caricature artist for during the reception/cocktail hour as another form of entertainment and the favor. It would be about 5 hours and we have about 80 guests ( so around 40 couples) my FH thinks that it would be a silly idea and that they won’t be able to draw everyone in time. What do you think? I’m getting mixed feelings from family. Some think it’s a great idea and some think it won’t be enough time. Now I’m just over thinking it all.

I think its a unique idea, but for the amount of time and guests I don't think it is enough time for everyone to do this. Also IMO I would not do it if someone had this because I would much rather be dancing or mingling with other then sitting still for god knows how long for them to draw myself and FH.

I’ve been to weddings with this and it kept a lot of people off the dance floor because everyone was in line for so long. Just something to think about.

Echoing PPs, it's a great idea but there probably won't be enough time to have sketches of everyone

My friend did this for her wedding in April, and everyone loved it!! She only had them for 2 hours, and that started during the cocktail hour and the first part of dinner so people weren't on the dance floor during it. I got to the line after I ate dinner, and they were finishing their last person, and I was so sad I didn't get to do it! I think it'd be great if you had it for a little shorter time so that people could do it during the cocktail hour/dinner, but it wouldn't take away from people dancing.

I would skip it just because it takes a while for them to finish a piece and so it would take a long time overall. But that's such a cool idea though

Went to a wedding that had this and everyone was in line for this all night, nobody danced or socialized that much since everyone was in line so we thought it took away! Just a thought to keep in mind

I wouldn't do it, you don't want people standing in line all night. And I'm sure there are better things you can spend that money on!

I think it's a unique idea, and If I could afford that I would probably do it.

Thank you for everyone replying to me! My wedding so at an aquarium so I feel like people will be waking around anyways. I was just trying to find something different that people can do. And normally I’m the kind of person that doesn’t dance at weddings and just sit there and watch everyone. I know my FH will get me on the dance floor at ours tho! 😅😅
