Hire a Florist or nah 😉

Futuremrs, on March 22, 2019 at 1:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 64
Hi, is anyone using or has used companies like Enjoy Flowers? For those who’ve never heard of them they provide fully arranged flower packages or loose flowers so you can DIY your floral arrangements. They literally send the flowers a few days before your wedding with care instructions. They come fully arranged so all you have to do is drop them in a pretty vase and you’re done! I was thinking about using them or a similar company to cut back on my floral costs (it’s about a third of what a florist would charge). Would love to hear your opinions/experiences. Thanks 😊

I thought about this but then i decided the cost of convenience of a florist was better than adding to my day of stress. But that’s just me lol

We looked for a florist at first, that quoted $600 just for the bouquets and boutonnières. We decided against it, and ordered bulk flowers from blooms in a box; we were able to do all our bouquets, boutonnières, center pieces, flower girl crowns, and petals all for half the quote. Sure, you have to put them together but it was well worth saving the money for something else and people couldn’t even tell the difference. It essentially boils down to how important having professionally done floral arrangements is to you.

DIY all the way. I helped my FSIL DIY her arrangements essentially the day of and I'll be DIYing my bouquets and centerpieces. I'll be doing succulents instead of flowers though. Since they'll keep fresh much longer, so I'll have more buffer room (and less stress!).

I was originally going to DIY but ended up hiring a florist to take the stress off of me. I would weigh both of your options. My florist ended up being a lot more affordable than I thought it was going to be and DIY adds up quick.

I booked with enjoy flowers, but my wedding isn’t until April 2020 so I can’t say how they are JUST Ayer but they are incredibly quick to respond if I have any questions. I may order a small bouquet for when I do my dress fitting so 1. I know the flowers are going to be beautiful and 2. To see how it goes together

I have not gone through that site, but I'm happy with my florist. For $875, I am getting: a large cascading bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaid bouquets (with MOH's being larger), flower girl flowers, 12 boutonnieres, 4 corsages, and 2 arch arrangements. Unsure of how much you will get for what price, but I would definitely price compare.

Thought about this, but who will drop everything off to the venue, and when, and how etc etc. I will most likely end up doing this to save $$ but will plan to be extremely annoyed by it also lol. Keep me updated on your decision...

I can say from being married, it is really nice to have professionals set up your wedding for you, so you don't have to worry about it on the day of. I loved just spending the day with my BMs and getting ready and not having to worry about putting out centerpieces. That being said I would just advise to weigh out the costs other than dollar amount. Questions to ask:

What time can you get into your venue before the wedding to put out the flowers? If you can put them out the night before and they'll last even better.

Does your venue have or did you hire a DOC who can put them out for you?

If no DOC, do you have family or friends not in your WP who would be able to help so you don't have to?

Do you have a way to transport the pre-packaged flowers from your house to your venue so they don't get damaged in transport?

Not sure how big your wedding is. If it's on the smaller side, transporting and setting up shouldn't be a problem. If you are having 20 tables or something like that at your wedding, I would say a florist is probably worth it. Good luck!

We're doing DIY Sam's Club bulk flowers, cheap vases, done. Smiley smile I'd go with a service like you mentioned, or DIY, over a florist!

I thought about them, but am going to go with Something Borrowed Blooms because they had an arrangement and collection based around my favorite flower that worked perfectly with my colors as well!

I never wanted real flowers because I don't want to pay thousands of dollars to kill 100 flowers so they can go in the trash a few hours later. I thought I was going to pay someone to do faux bouquets for me. I want them to be beautiful. I was ready to pay a sola artist to make them for me, so I ordered sample blossoms. When they arrived, I knew the wooden flowers weren't for me.

I decided to try ordering some silk flowers and velvet roses. They are amazing! The velvet roses are so "real"!

I order from Amazon a lot because the shipping is free and it's easy to return stuff that looks different in person than it did online. I only keep the ones that look real. I'm also ordering from Afloral.com and Joann's. Joann's is having a big floral sale right now. Half-price on tons of flowers and greenery.

I'm totally obsessed with making these bouquets, boutonnieres, and my centerpieces! I'm having so much fun picking all of the pieces and styling them my own way. I'm so glad I didn't hire someone to do it for me.

If you have a venue with a coordinator, you don't have to take your flowers to the venue day-of. You can drop them off a few days before. They set everything up for you. My reception is at a country club. They will take care of it.

I have researched all of the DIY companies until I felt like my eyes are bleeding and we ultimately decided to go with Sam's Club flowers - and I will be doing the arrangements myself. Most of the florists around here require a pretty steep minimum for wedding orders (I'm talking 3-5K) and that is well over our budget.

I'm struggling with this decision myself. The church-recommended florist has done the following: ignored my contact; when prodded, quoted me more than double my budget; when told that was untenable, grudgingly lowered the cost to only double my budget, and rudely told me why they are expensive.

I'm going to be looking at other florists, but I'm wondering if DIY is the more affordable route...

Between Sam’s Club & Fifty Flowers I’m doing all my flowers for $600. 1 large bridal, 1 bridesmaid, 2 mini mother’s bouquets, 2 flower girls, 10 table arrangements, 7 boutonnières, 2 alter pieces. Mostly greens w/ white and occasional peach thrown in

We are doing Etsy ,and afloral.so it is already made. So I don’t have the DIY stress. Nor the high cost of a Florest. All my centerpieces , bouqets and boutonnières are less then $400. Hoping my hair peice stays the same.
