Hire a florist or diy

Nikki, on June 8, 2018 at 11:32 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14
Hi all! I cannot decide if I should hire a florist or do some DIY. It would be about $260 more for me to hire the florist and have them set everything up the day of the wedding, the other option is have some premade table runners and arch greenery /flowers made and I have to set it up plus make the guest table centerpieces.

Anyone who did DIY to save money do you wish you would of hired someone instead?

Our budget is quite small so $260 for us is quite big. Thanks for your input!

So I think it depends on what your venue provides. My venue provides table ready service. So I can buy my flowers from a florist, have them delivered the morning of and the staff will have them table ready. So I am going to take advantage of that option. If your venue doesn't provide that I would spend the extra money just to have that stress free feeling Smiley smile

That's a good point! I should call and see if my venue will do that, cause that would definitely be a huge plus. I am kinda leaning towards the not doing it myself because I am worried about being stressed and I want to enjoy my day. Thank you for your input! Smiley smile

I totally get $260 is a big chunk of money! But wedding day stress is a lot. I would personally send that extra money to take some stress off my shoulders.

We were going to DIY, but decided to hire a florist. It’s way more than what I wanted to spend, but now I have zero stress about it day of. They’re making everything and doing set up.

I am going to buy all the real touch flowers for centerpieces, bouquets and bouts. I will attempt to arrange everything myself but if it turns out a hot mess my backup plan is to have a florist at my local grocery store arrange it all. He agreed to do it all for $150 bucks.

That's what I am thinking. I am worried that I will be all stressed the day of trying to make it look good. But it also means we have to go cheaper on something else because we are going over budget on the flowers. Until I started all the planning I never knew how much everything really costs! It's overwhelming.

Ya that does sound nice ! . I just keep struggling with the money aspect since it's already so much to start! But it probably is worth not having the added stress. Our centerpieces are not super complicated which is why I keep considering it but I'm sure they would make it so much nicer then I can lol

I strongly considered DIY flower options - both silk flowers and real assembled myself - and was really torn bc I knew that I could get flowers/greenery for cheap at the wholesale flower mart and assemble the bouquets myself. But I realized that a) I know nothing about and have 0 experience assembling bouquets and would likely be unable to make my vision come to life bc of this inexperience, and b) I just could not fathom the idea of waking up at the crack of dawn the day before my wedding to hit the flower mart and spend the entire day stressing over bouquets and centerpieces! So I hired a professional who will also deliver and set up for me. $250 over budget and I could not be happier!

I never did a quote with a florist for my flowers because I wanted to do my own. It was a massive amount of work but they turned out so beautiful and exactly my vision! I got so many compliments on them!

My little sister/MOH commented at the end of the wedding day “I’ll never look at flowers the same again”! Referring to all the work lol. And she only helped with the arranging and transporting. She wasn’t even involved in the receiving/trimming/processing day which was the worst/longest/most labor.

long story short my flowers came out perfect and amazing, but it was extra work. If someone could have exactly duplicated how everything turned out for $260 I would jump on it. But, for me it probably would have been thousands of dollars and I don’t know if the execution would be right.

$260 isn't much when it will keep you from being stressed. Hire the work out. You won't regret it.

Thank you for your input! I am leaning towards just sucking It up and paying for it. It's over budget but seems like it may be worth the piece of mind.

I’m having a florist do the flowers for the bridal party and myself and my FH. Decorations and center pieces are going to be diy.
