High Blood Pressure?

Kris, on October 21, 2010 at 10:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

About a month ago I was feeling so sick, had the worst headaches and my eyesight was awful. It lasted about a week before I decided on a whim to check my blood pressure at a CVS. It was 153 over 87. I started feeling fine about two days later and my blood pressure was back to normal (dialostic is always at like 116). Now this past week it has been high again!

I should probably eat better and lose 15 pounds...but if that was the main cause wouldn't the blood pressure be consistently high? Has anyone else had their blood pressure randomly go up for a week at a time? I am thinking about calling out tomorrow and going to the doctors.

I have had that same problem, few of those symptoms you did along with a few others and that’s when I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder so when I was having attacks my blood pressure would go nuts. You could have high blood sure though, i’d make an appointment and get checked out. I hope you feel better soon :]

By no means am I a medical proffesional and I always suggest consulting someone when you have questions such as this but think about when you check your blood pressure. Are you over heated by any chance? When you really hot and dehydrated, your blood pressure will spike. Good Luck!!!

Always a good idea to have it checked but I've had the same problem on and off for years... it spikes when I'm stressed out or havent had enough sleep. just to be safe you should see ur doctor.. better safe than sorry

Stress can definitely have an effect on your blood pressure. Definitely check with your family/personal physician. You might need medication and/or a modified diet.

Kris - I've had a BP problem on and off for years.. I'm on medicine for it and it's been pretty balanced but it can definitely damage your vision!! My eyesight was -0.75 and because I stopped taking my medicine it doubled!!! I get really bad headaches and migraines from my BP. It completely helps.

Do yourself a favor, go to a dr. It really can make a difference. This may seem like small potatoes now but its one of those things where it can REALLY bite you in the butt later.

Honestly, instead of the blood pressure cuff at CVS, it would a good idea to find a doctor, to just check it out; you mentioned eye sight and blood pressure issues. I have no medical knowledge, but often the earlier you get something looked at the better.

I think you should talk to the doctor about this since you are also having headaches and eye sight problems. A few years ago I had some BP issues, it was in the 140 range at a routine doctor appointment. They asked me if I was under any stress, and I told them I wasn't anymore stressed than usual. So they asked that I come back a few times so they could read my BP, and wanted me to keep a journal and check my BP at grocery/cvs stores and report back. They also took me off my regular BCP, and put me on the mini pill because that can also contribute to high BP. My BP went down after that, and I also got a BP machine to use at home, it's easy to use, and I check it sometimes when I'm not feeling too good and think that it might be high. A few years later, my doctor put me back on the regular BCP, and my BP has been fine ever since. Good luck, and let us know what the doctor says.

I was just at my cardiologist's the other day... and she pointed out that at my first visit, my BP was high. At this most recent visit, my BP was low - too low, actually!

Stress and anxiety can certainly push BP up temporarily, but I would be worried about the symptoms. As always... if you're concerned, it's better to ask a doctor.
