Hemming a dress to add a train?

AG, on March 23, 2018 at 9:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 2

I'm ordering my dress from Etsy, but it doesn't have a train, and the shop doesn't do customizations. I know that it will be too long, and I'd be okay with having even just a bit of a train. The skirt is chiffon. Do you think a seamstress could hem it in a way that just shortens the front and somehow cut the back so it works?

I think its possible. When I was dress shopping there was a dress I liked but I wanted a longer train. It didnt come in a longer train but did come in a longer overall dress and the seamstress said she could add that length to lengthen the train and then hem the front. I didnt end up buying that dress but it was a possibility so it should be for yours too. I hope it works out for you!

Yes. I had my dress custom made and it was silk chiffon. As they made it, the length was pretty much all the same. When it was time to hem it they asked me if I wanted to keep length in the back for a train and I did. So they just hemmed the front and sides and left the back long.
