Help!

Danielle, on November 8, 2019 at 12:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
I guess I don't have a specific question but I'm a little overwhelmed with planning. I've never even been to a wedding. My parents didn't have a "real" wedding themselves, so they aren't really any help. I've been reading all the magazines and Pinterest and have apps and stuff but I feel like it's all big picture stuff. I'm 10ish months out and have most of the big vendors (venue/caterer, photo, video, DJ) and have friends that said they'd be the florist and officiant but we haven't really talked about it (they're actually married and I don't think I've talked to the florist at all since, her husband just keeps saying it). I bought my dress and that's about it. I know nothing about the logistics or what I should be doing or anything. And I really can't afford a planner so I don't know what I'm going to do!

    What you're doing is great!

Just keep planning based off of a checklist to stay on track with tasks, the one on this site is super helpful. Work with vendors to cement your plans and the event will come together.

If you are stressed about planning I would hire a day of coordinator- mine will take over a month before the big day and help bring everything together.

There are a billion planning sites/tools out there. I recommend A Practical Wedding. They have all kinds of planning tools and trackers and stuff but it's real world stuff....not the ones that think you have a billion dollars to spend on your wedding. I've basically just made my own binder with the pieces and parts of wedding planners that are necessary for my kind of wedding.

There is a free planning checklist right here on Wedding Wire!! It's actually pretty good, in terms of when things should be completed. I found that there are some categories that don't really apply to what I'm doing for my wedding, so I just ignore those. But it has helped keep me organized and on track.

There are also other websites and books and binders that you can buy. I made my own binder, with dividers for each category, and I also put in pocket dividers to hold loose papers. I put inspiration/ideas in there, I have my whole guest list in there, all my contracts, etc.

For the most part it sounds like you have things under control.

you are going to need to create a day of time line which states pretty much just what you would be doing hour to -hour minutes to minute for that day.

you should also make sure in terms of logistics with the venue and catering and how set up and clean up will work
