My fiancé and I are about to tell his mom that we no longer want the huge wedding that this ordeal has become. We want to go from 250+ to 31 people. Wedding planning is ruining my joy for marrying the love of my life. The only issue is our date is VERY popular- 10/10/2020 so I’m at a loss on where to even have this wedding? AND how to tell people they’re not invited anymore after STD have been sent. I live in Wisconsin so any recommendations or affordable small venues are welcomed!

Not sure about Wisconsin, but what about historic houses, B&B, zoo, aquarium, botanical garden (with an indoor pavilion for Oct), luxury hotel with a cool private room in their restaurant?

Well here is my personal opinion. Your day should be what you 2 want it to be and if this is now making things miserable (stress is inevitable so do not let that be the reason rather is this turning into the wedding you do not want) then you and your FH (mostly your FH should talk to her) and express that this is not what you want. May I ask why is it 250+ guests? Did you agree to this or are these a lot of people you do not know? I am not trying to be hard I am just wondering if it is stress that is making you feel this way or do you feel his mom has taken over? However, I do feel that you are going to rub people the wrong way by canceling the wedding but hopefully no one has purchased flights. Since you are about a year out and this is what you want now is the time to make that decision.
