I need help, opinions and ideas . Recently we have been offered a farm from a family friend for our wedding . We have decided we may forfeit our deposit with the other venue and go with this instead. This will give us the freedom to extend our wedding,decorate the night before and save money on venue cost and up our budget for the caterer . I have look into for the rentals of table,chairs, a tent, dance floor, and lights for the tent. Apart from DJ,caterer, bar etc. then these items is there anything possibly missing that a venue would typically have that I would have to look into renting for the wedding . Also if anyone has pictures of decor they did in their own farm or yard for a wedding this would help. We about 5 months left and I feel like I'm planning a whole new wedding again. I just don't want their to be any surprises last minute for example if I forget to rent a generator for electrical us . Thank you !

P.s. There is bathroomS there located on the site .

    @Jennifer, good luck!

    Hopefully the comments have given you some more factors to consider.... have you thought about how you're going to keep beer cold? I really think getting liquor to the site could be a legal/liability/logistical nightmare. Hopefully your catering company can handle that.

    If you have all the answers, why are you asking?

    I will tell you that the tent, tables, chairs, dance floor, and bathrooms are going to add up very quickly. We started off with a backyard country wedding because we thought it would be cheaper too. We were way wrong. I was having daily meltdowns because each day I would find additional things we needed to consider. Things began adding up so fast... ($800 for just a dance floor?!) Think about liability issues, a licensed bartender, garbage, temperature, bugs, what if it rains the day of? What if it rains the whole week of and you have a sloppy, muddy field? Will you have a back up plan? We have since moved to an inclusive venue and things are so much less stress stressful. Good luck with whichever way you decide to go!

    @Rachel thank you so much for this information . @cutenickname this is exactly what forums are for to get opinion,ideas, and advice . This is something we are considering quickly considering the time circumstances .

    @Nonna, we actually were able to save our deposit! Since we are still having the ceremony out at FH's parent's house, we will use the deposit we put down for our chair rentals. However, if it does rain, we have our venue as a backup (then we'd lose our deposit). But yes.. so much less stressful and my vision at the venue is becoming even more beautiful than my vision for our tent!

    @A.L.C as it clearly states I'm asking for opinions,help and ideas. It is still both options just trying to see which to lean towards . The original Venue or the Farm.

    It sounds like you might end up paying more for this space then planned. How's the parking?

    What about electricity? Is that going to be readily available for all of your needs on this farm????

    I just saw you're renting a generator...aren't those noisy?

    Idk girl, I think you should just stick with your original venue. This sounds like a huge headache and A LOT to put together in just 6 months.

    ^Some generators are noisy, others you don't notice. OP, ask the rental company you're considering what they recommend (we needed two generators, one with outlets just or a couple things, and another with many more outlets for other things.... DJ, lighting, heat/air, etc. are all things that need generators).

    @ Rachel Langerhans Photography - That was an incredible breakdown.

    @ Jennifer - If you are really, really in love with the barn then for for it as you know what you are getting yourself into. If you are selecting the barn from a perceived cost savings perspective from WW has shown over time that it usually does not work out cheaper and may not be worth the mental stress. Rachel Langerhans Photography provided a really good list of the cost and her breakdown.

    @J.Clo I truly love the space the farm is offering us and the freedom to choose our vendors and decorate how we like . The breakdown I agree was very helpful.

    I would stick with the original venue. Farms seem really nice on Pinterest, but that's basically it.
