Help with jewelry for catholic wedding!!

Veda, on April 8, 2010 at 11:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

My fiances family is very catholic and they have told me that I should consider wearing very modest jewelry. I do not want to offend anyone...has anyone heard anything like this from their family.

This is the necklace I picked out and I am afraid it is not appropriate.

Well how's the dress? You pick the jewelry to compliment the dress.

Wearing appropriate jewelry? is there such thing for a catholic wedding?!?!

Did you ask them what they meant by that, because now i'm quite curious...

but i think what you have picked out seems appropriate...it's modest to me (very pretty too!!)

Agree with SpanishBride. The earring are really cute too. I'm catholic and I'm wearing simple jewelry because my dress has a lot of bling on it. As long as it's classy and it looks good you won't offend anyone. And even if you could, how do you exactly offend someone with jewelry?

Looks look pretty modest to me. You know what I really like though? A bare neck. I feel like strapless dresses really set off your shoulders and clavicle area and sometimes I feel like a necklace just adds clutter so to speak. That said, I think the jewelry is very pretty. Smiley smile

I have absolutely no idea how jewellery wouldn't be appropriate, unless ofcourse you got a sterling silver hand giving the middle finger, encrusted with jewels..?? Pick what jewellery you like nad goes good with your dress, Did they mention what kind of jewellery would be appropraite or not?

If everyone is cool with you wearing a strapless dress, then that jewelry is totally in the "modest" range! Now, if you had a church that required sleeves then anything more than studs would probably be "too much", but you're not in that situation at all! My uncle is a priest and I am wearing similar jewelry to yours, and he's said it is totally appropriate for our church wedding--- you're totally fine and will look beautifuL!

My FH and I are Catholic, and while I've heard a lot about wearing a modest dress, I've never heard anything about the jewelry! Do they know your dress is strapless yet? Smiley winking I say go with what YOU want...what you picked out is beautiful!
