Help with invitation wording!

Jennifer, on June 24, 2019 at 1:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Howdy friends! I'm getting ready to order our wedding invitations, but I've been struggling with finalizing the wording of it. It currently reads:

"We warmly invite you

to join us in celebrating the wedding of

Jennifer Last name

&

Lorenzo Last name..."

etc., with the following at the bottom of the invitation:

"Drinks, dinner & dancing to follow"

Alternatively, we originally had it worded as:

"Please join us for the

celebration and blessing of the marriage of..."

Just curious if people find the wording awkward, confusing, or anything like that! Thanks in advance!

“Celebration and blessing of the marriage of” feels really cumbersome to me, so I would personally go with the more simple “celebrating the wedding (or marriage) of...”

Thanks Jessica! FH liked that one because it matches our Book of Common Prayer, but I agree that "celebrating the marriage of" sounds better Smiley smile

Celebrating the marriage of sounds less formal so if you're having a less formal wedding that'd be the one to choose

I really like the way your worded it first "we warmly invite you..." it feels more personal.

Either one sounds fine to me! I do like how simple the first wording is though.
