Help with Invitation Grammar

Michelle, on September 26, 2019 at 10:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Is it grammatically acceptable to use an "and" instead of a "to" here? The word is bolded:

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Levy
request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of their daughter

Rachel Lynn
and
Doctor Michael Brandon Smithson

son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Smithson

Saturday, the twenty-second of March
two thousand eighteen
at six o’clock
Temple Sinai
Granville, Ohio

It would cost a lot of money to get it changed to a "to" so fingers-crossed it still works. What do you think?

Also, if you don't think it works like this, please suggest re-wording something else that would make it work. Thank you!

I think "and" works! As a recipient, I probably would not even notice that or care...the names, time, and place are what's important in my opinion. I personally would not pay a lot of money to change it to "to" if I were you.

At first I was going to say no, but it does work, it's just different. I think it sounds awkward at first read. After reading it a few times, I think it sounds fine. No one will pay that close of attention anyways.

I think it's fine and it's pretty unlikely that anyone will even notice.

I think "to" makes more sense. Plus, the date is wrong anyway, unless this is in the past because the year says 2018.

Thank you, everyone, for your help! The information in the OP is all made up (that's why the date is in the past), but the wording matches my real invites.

What do you all think about changing "marriage" to "wedding"? Does it sound more natural that way, less natural, or the same?
