HELP...What COLOR does the mother-of-the-bride wear??

Our wedding is in Nov 2015 and our color theme is Coral. We will also have cream, white and blush colors. The Groom and groomsmen will be wearing light gray suits. My dad will be walking me down the isle so I plan on having him wear the same as the groomsmen, though I'm not sure if that is the norm...

My mom (mother-of-the-bride) and the mother-of-the-groom have recently asked me what they should wear. I can't seem to find anything to help me make these decisions... Suggestions / thoughts??

2d Bride -- I've officiated those weddings where the 2 moms obviously did not discuss wardrobe (1 formal and 1 casual).

I also had a wedding where the groom's mom & stepmom both wore the exact same dress (same taste in men, too).

Another wedding the MOB looked like she was going out clubbing to pick up as many men as possible - hootchy momma!

For an at-home afternoon wedding, I ran into a young woman wearing a white, beaded cocktail dress and said, "You must be the bride!" Confused look and then, "No, I'm her sister." And then I looked confused!

I told my mom to pick whatever she felt most comfortable in. I just told her no white, cream, ivory or red.

Another vote for having her wear whatever she is comfortable with (with the exception of white/ivory). If she continues to seek your input or direction, you could tell her to look for muted, neutral colors that complement your wedding colors.

As for your dad matching the groomsmen, I think that could be fine. However, if you didn't want him to match exactly (it may look odd if he matches and your mom doesn't), you could have him in similar colors. Maybe a slightly different shade of grey for the suit and/or a complementary color tie.

My mother chose a pantsuit, that had cream colored pants and a cream colored jacket with blue sparkly flowers on it. I was really irritated with her that she chose to wear so much white and also that it was a pantsuit. But she had already bought the dress and then sent me a picture. I would just let her know to steer clear of any color white.

We're doing 1920's day wear. My mother is walking me down the isle so she does need to be in something that suits the times and doesn't clash with me, she has asked my to help her pick something out. My sister and two FSIL's are my BM's but I told them that if their husbands/kids wanted to, and I told my FMIL/FIL if they wanted to as well, to dress to the times for fun. They are all on board, even my FH's aunt/uncle wants to. My only gripe, which I will say nothing, is that my FMIL has put together an outfit that is black and ivory. Black....really?! While everyone else will be in lighter colors. Wedding pics will be interesting....

WW will probably shoot me, but I don't get the big deal in telling them a few colors they could wear. Ours all asked what we would like. What happens if you have light wedding colors and your mother comes in with a dark purple dress and totally throws pictures off? I don't know. I don't believe there's anything wrong with giving them ideas or suggestions. If they were insistent on wearing a certain color, I'd be okay with it, but if they ask, then I don't think it's bad to give them what you think would look best.
