I have been searching for weeks for something special for my best friend to read at my wedding but I have come up empty handed. Nothing religious (it is a civil ceremony), but I do want it to be meaningful/beautiful. Nothing with "thou" that sounds like Shakespeare. Everything I find is hokey or cheesy and I am starting to feel totally desperate since I need to get my program text off to the engraver who is out of state. Can anyone help? I'd like it to be something "feel-good" and uplifting/inspiring. Nothing childish - nothing too rhymey...I know it's a tall order but I have to believe there is something nice out there! HELP Please! I found one thing that might work "Marriage Joins Two People in the Circle of Its Love" by Edmund O'Neill. I like it but I don't LOVE it.......

Try this one. It's what I used in my programs.

    Reading of Lve

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet

    understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and

forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times.

It settles for less than perfection and makes

    allowances for human weaknesses.

Love is content with the present, it hopes for the

future, and it does not brood over the past. It’s the

day-in and day-out chronicle of irritations, problems, compromises, small disappointments, big victories and working toward common goals.

If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things that are missing. If you don’t have love in your life, no matter what else there is, it’s not enough.
