help planning for my Las Vegas Wedding

Shelby, on November 15, 2022 at 11:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
So we are getting married on our 10 year anniversary which falls on a Monday May 1st. Future hubs & I want to get there Sat/Sun to get our marriage license and get things finalized, I need advice on what we should do as far as hotel is concerned. Should we book separate hotel rooms all that time? That seems excessive or just the night before we sleep with our families in their rooms?
Need some other opinions.
Also what’s etiquette for sending Save the Dates / Invites for destination weddings? We are 5 months out now. But i want to give family time to plan accordingly. Any one who has gotten married in Vegas or that have had destination weddings I’d love to hear what you did!

Do you have a specific wedding and reception venue booked? If so, it would make sense to get the save-the-dates out soon just to allow people to plan out vacation days from work. (The distance may not be an issue for most people.) As to hotel rooms, it just depends on preferences and if you have lived together, there is not a reason to have different hotel rooms, unless you are wanting to get ready separately from him.

Maybe some others will chime in as you provide a few more details.

I would focus on booking the venue first, if you haven't already done that. Then give the VIP's a heads up about the plan, because people will need to play for time off budgeting etc.

I'm not sure why you would book two rooms for yourselves. I would just stay with your spouse in one room.

Congratulations on 10 years! I would check the courthouse on their hours as your event is on a Monday, but generally all you need is 24 hours for a license. I'd make informal phonecalls as save the dates or send out paper versions ASAP. They don't need to list venue location, just city and date for now. As for venues, most resorts provide options. You can easily view brochures online and get quotes by emailing their wedding planners. I don't think your guests need to stay in the same hotel as they are most often within 5-10 minute cab ride from each other. There are also independent chapels on the Strip. Las Vegas is a romantic town and very wedding friendly! Best wishes.

Oh staying separate or together is your personal preference. You can always get a 2-bedroom suite with a sitting area if you want some surprise.

One little thing you can do ahead of the trip is to start the wedding license online. Mostly this will just get the paperwork process started so you don't have to fill-out stuff while there.

Congratulations on almost 10 years and on planning your Vegas wedding🥰 (we are getting married in Vegas on 2/4/24).
For the hotel room, that is up to what you want to do. If you decide you want the tradition of spending the night apart the night before he could sleep in a relatives or friends room instead of paying for an extra hotel room. Also, not sure if you booked your chapel yet or not but some chapels offer a free limo ride to and from the chapel. If you plan to spend the night before apart, you will also have to decide who gets to ride in the limo to the chapel.
