Help! Ordering dress timeline .. freaking out!

Heather, on January 24, 2020 at 10:17 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

I’m slightly freaking out. We are still deciding on a venue, but we are set on a early November wedding date. Im pretty sure I want a Hayley Paige gown, haven’t found anything else I absolutely love. Have I waited too long to order? Is it too late? I’ve been reading tons of reviews online, and a lot of girls have said at the least they needed 12 months to order. How accurate is this for Hayley Paige, or honestly ANY dress vendor at this point? My mom won’t be back in town until the end of March and I really want her to be there In person when I make a final decision on my dress. That would put me at 7.5ish months out from the wedding. ANY insight is appreciated on this subject!

    Hey girl!

I can tell you I was told to order a year out (I’m getting married November 28) & I ordered my dress November 23 2019 & my dress will be shipping to arrive to me on 4/30... I had to get my customized to fit me as well. I think you should be able to get away with ordering it later!

If you're set on a specific designer, I would order your dress ASAP. The dress I ordered from David's Bridal only took a month to come in, but it really depends on the shop you go to and the dress you order. I would assume designer brands take longer to come in. You can absolutely find a dress between now and your wedding, but it may not be the exact one you want if you wait much longer.

My David's Bridal dress came in after a month, but with specific designers you may just want to go into a salon that carries her dresses and see the timelines, try some things on so you get ideas. If nothing else, you can always check stillwhite and preownedweddingdress.

I ordered my dress on the late side— early March for a late August wedding. It worked out fine- I was able to find my dream dress! BUT there were a few options that were off limits to me as it was a little late in the game and some designers dresses just take too long (I can’t speak to Hayley Paige though). Be up front about timeline with your shop & consultant . My consultant was sure to only show me dresses from designers that could work with my timeline. Some designers have a rush option, for an additional fee, depending on the timeline. The shop will be your best resource here. Where I bought my dress they had a big notebook with all the dates for each dress— just make sure they really adhere to it and don’t let you try dresses that would be out of reach, timing wise. Again I’m not sure about HP specifically, so try to have some flexibility and not tightly committed to a designer. Many designers make similar dresses these says so focus on style and features, and you’ll absolutely be able to find an amazing dress. I would also suggest shopping a bit BEFORE your mom comes so you’re not putting too much pressure on that day — though you can save final decisions for then (as long as the shop gives the okay on the timeline!). I just know some people feel the pressure of the clock so rush into a decision in the moment even though they may not have been ready!

I'm getting married in July and just ordered my dress this last week. (It's Maggie Sottero)

It was supposed to arrive in April but because of Chinese New Years they had to put a rush order in to get it in by May (which unfortunately cost $200 that when I bought the dress I was told I wouldn't need to pay).

Worst case scenario they'll put a rush order in for you and you'll have to pay extra. As long as you don't need complicated alterations, those shouldn't take too long. I'd recommend you at least find the dress that you want to show your mum before she gets here. Also, make sure they're aware of your wedding date when you go in to purchase the dress.

Idk about Hayley Paige in particular, but you should be fine with plenty of other designers. My shop told me to expect my dress in 6 months, and can pay a rush fee to get it about a month quicker. My dress came arrived in less than 5 months

Hayley Paige bride here!!! I ordered my dress 10 months before my wedding. I got very lucky and it arrived in about 3-4 months! Now, this is not the case with all of her dresses. Your bridal consultant will be able to help you out a little with timelines. However, if you fall in love with one, Hayley Paige does offer rush ordering for an additional cost! I would suggest order sooner than later though.

By the way... you have excellent taste. Hayley Paige is THE BEST Smiley love . I looooved my dress!

My wedding is early November as well, and I’m not ordering mine until March. I checked with the bridal salon AND the designer (because hey, you can never be too sure, right?) and they both said 7 months. There is always the option of paying more for a rush order as well.
