HELP: Opening Words for Ceremony!

Future_Mrs, on November 8, 2014 at 2:26 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for help with the opening words for my ceremony. My fiance and I are not religious or spiritual, so we aren't really looking for a traditional ceremony. We have known each other for over 10 years and have been dating for 7 years and would like to make mention of that in the opening words.

Any Suggestions?

Any brides with a similar issue and/or experience?

I always start with a reading, not a religious one. Then I do the welcome. There are about 600 readings on my pinterest page (10 officiants contribute to it)

We were together for eight years and we acknowledged it. I had my officiant say something like

"Most if you know we have waited a long time for this day. From six years of dating, to two years engaged, to a long walk down the aisle. We are finally here. So let's get started!"

We have a reading and then a welcome by our officiant. We are not religious so the ceremony won't be either.

I am totally a fan of http://www.firstunitarianottawa.ca/uploads/2/1/0/6/21068182/newest_wedding_booklet_130909.pdf for help...it is very non religious and how you build your ceremony can be traditional or really not traditional depending on what you pick and choose from it.
