Help! Need a color theme with Victorian lilac...

lesley, on February 4, 2009 at 4:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi, I have recently just picked my main color theme for my wedding which is Victorian Lilac. However, I am not sure if there is another color that would go with it throughout the entire wedding and reception... I know that different shades of purple would look good with the victorian lilac but i would like to have another splash of color in there. If you could please help I would be greatful! Thanks!

    Congratulations!

Yellow would just make that Victorian lilac pop. I just completed a headtable piece for a bride who has chosen the same color, but she is using other shades of purple. Please check it out. www.idocreations.com We are a floral and decor business and provide free consultation.

I love Victorian Wedding themes as they are so traditional and feminine. I am glad they are starting to make a comeback. I happened to have a book entitled Creating a Beautiful Wedding that was a publication of Victoria Magazine.

Victorian roses were distinctive the many roses, ferns, Queen Anne lace and of course lilacs. Arrangements were brimming with large fully mature rose blooms, cascades of delicate fern and ivy and baby's breath or queen anne's lace.

I would suggest that you use a lot of ivory or champagne colored roses, ivy or fern and perhaps some green or blue hydrangea. Use antique silver as another accent throughout by using silver candlebras, a victorian style flat ware, silver vases or urns for your arrangements.

I would also go with ivory lace overlays and silver victoran style photo frames for your table numbers.

I hope this is helpful. I would suggest trying to find this book. I am sure you would have get it used online as its out of print

Borrow from nature - and pair the lilac with the green of the stalks, or even a bright moss green, and accent with a neutral cream/ivory. I think it can work very well together!

I also choose Victorian Lilac to go with my other color of Navy. My inspiration was Alfred Angelo. Then I chose Ivory and Silver as accent colors. Go to Magnet Street and play with color palates around Victorian Lilac
