Help Me & the Rest of Us Save Some Loot!!

LeKisha, on August 25, 2021 at 4:09 PM Posted in Married Life 1 9

I'm in the process of finalizing my wedding vendors, travel arrangements and ceremony garbs. Now that many of you have celebrated your big day - do you have regrets on items or activities you splurged on during the event (menus, invite, flowers, decor)? Or maybe there's something you wish you would have had present and elected not to spend the extra (i.e. fireworks, extravagant decor).

Please provide your thoughts on Must- Haves, Nice-to-Haves and the Ain't-Gotta-Have-It and help the rest of us stay focus on what's most important - the commitment and keeping a few coins in the wallet to splurge another daySmiley smile

Thanks for sharing!!

So a very small “nice to have” that turned into a must-have we’re these huge glow sticks and glasses. We threw them out onto the dance fooor during a super energetic song (Pump it) and people LOVED them (adults and kids). Everyone danced holding them in their hands or had sword fights and the pictures look really cool with these lights going off everywhere. We also had these FATHEADS made and they also made for cute action shots.

    Candy bar

i always wanted a candy buffet bar and i didn't spend that much on it because i was smart enough to wait for holiday candy sales BUT honestly so much candy was leftover at the end of the night!

i kind of regret not just throwing them in baggies and handing them out because that may have just gotten rid of them more than leaving it there for people to take. in the end i did just save up the candy and ate it myself LOL and i gave some to the staff at the venue, etc.

so one thing that was a "nice to have" for me personally ended up being a MUST have. so in my culture, we have welcome photos. and that's basically after guests sign in, they take a photo with the bride and groom. i didn't want it especially because i had so many guests so i knew it was going to take a long time to take all those pics. however it ended up being a good must have because it was one of the only chances i got to interact with some people and it was a chance i got photos with a ton of people i wouldn't see much again or at all the rest of the night.

Hi LeKisha! We skipped the menus and chargers, and thought I may miss them - didn’t miss it at all! I did go high end on florals and really glad did. Our florist went over and beyond with market lighting and special touches and for me, was worth it. A nice to have is bathroom baskets. Got our baskets on clearance at Michaels and an inexpensive touch! Hope this helps ❤️

Thanks so much for sharing!! I'm struggling with menus that will be thrown away - considering COVID I'm think a QR scan of some sort. What did the bathroom baskets consist of?

Of course! I put floss, Advil, mouthwash with Dixie cups, spray deodorant, tampons and such just for guests to grab in case they needed something ❤️

I made my bouquet, and it cost WAY more than I expected. I made all of the flowers from ribbon and total it cost me about $150 or so. We wish that we had hired a videographer, or at least someone to video tape our ceremony. It was a total blur for the both of us.

It is absolutely beautiful and looks so real!! You did a wonderful job!!

Videographers are expensive but capturing the moments are priceless. There are tons of options however to allowing guests film and then edit the film after the events.

    Thanks so much for sharing!!
