I got this gorgeous strapless lace dress from Davids Bridal, and I love the dress, but I'm super self-conscious about my shoulders and arms showing, due to being raised in a strict high demand religion where women cannot show their shoulders and chest area. i have since left but its really hard for me to get over that conditioning, as well as my family still being members and having their judgemental comments making it difficult to love my life choices especially my dress.

I was planning on adding long sleeves since my wedding is outside in November anyways, but Im worried about the cost of adding them and i can't visualize it well. I feel like i would be more comfortable with the sleeves, but if it doesnt work out i cant just replace it or start over.
What should I do??
Sorry if too personal, im not good at this. :/

Such a pretty dress!! As many other people suggested, a jacket would be a good option! One of the things you could do is order extra fabric separately when you order the dress (usually sold by the yard), and ask a seamstress to use that fabric to create a custom jacket. That way, the lace on the jacket matches the dress.

I love the dress, you look beautiful. I think a jacket would compliment your dress and help you feel more comfortable.

I tried on a few strapless gowns, and I’m just not comfortable in them. Part of it is modesty and feeling exposed, the other part is security. And honestly most weddings I’ve been to where brides have strapless gowns, I watch them tug it up most of the reception. I would at least have to add some sort or strap or cap sleeves for my own comfort/confidence.

That is totally my thought! I think I'll get a quote from a seamstress just in case! Thanks for your reply!

Everyone who was so helpful in this post guess what!! I had my alterations appointment yesterday and I actually decided to scratch the long sleeves idea and instead wear this amazing satin cloak I found on etsy!! It is gorgeous and very Lord of the Rings-esq which is perfect!

The seamstress at Davids Bridal was so nice and helpful, and the only alterations I decided to do is getting it hemmed and a small piece of boning in the back to hook my bra strap away. We added a petticoat underneath and it looks absolutely amazing!
