Help! Is early June Seattle weather okay to get married outdoor ?

Danielly, on July 20, 2017 at 1:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

I found a couple venues and the only dates they have are early June. Like June 2nd or June 9, 2018. I want an outside wedding and I found this beautiful and a little bit expensive venue that has a tent but I am wondering if it would be worth renting it for early June due to the possibility of rain. The two places I am considering are Arlington and Maple Valley. I would hate to pay so much for a venue and not be able to use the outside garden. Is it worth the chance or should I find a venue that has August/September dates? Help me please! I am not from the area and from what I heard this June was quite unusual, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I would see if the venue has any openings for July-September. June can have rain and some years not much. I live in the Pacific northwest all of my life. Seems like the dry weather doesn't happen fully until after July 4th.

June is very iffy for weather in Seattle. I second Sarah - generally summer does not start until July 5. Though we did have a couple unusually warm and dry summers before this summer. I knew I wanted an outdoor wedding, so I picked the last weekend in July, which historically is the driest weekend in Seattle. To be on the safe side, I would make sure you love plan b (rain) just as much as plan a (sun).

I also agree. I have lived in Seattle all my life also. June is iffy it can be nice but also plan for rain. The middle to the end of July is more predictable for nice weather.

I concur, try to aim for july-early September if you want out door, or look into renting a tent.

Here in Vancouver, we call June, "Junuary". It's so much like January a lot of the time. I'm assuming Seattle is similar. July is way more predictable.

I'm from Seattle as well and June is super iffy weather. Our wedding is in the middle of Sep and I'm still nervous

June is always iffy. Especially this year. I am getting married in Arlington next year and our venue has an indoor/outdoor option in case of the weather

I'm in Oregon and it always rains in June. I wouldn't plan an outdoor June wedding, myself.

I got married on June 3rd of this year in Seattle and we had AMAZING weather, its really a hit or miss kind of thing like everyone else has said. I would check and see if the places that you are looking at have a "rain plan" because with the unpredictable weather here most places will. Also just a tip if you are looking for a venue that has options for indoor and outdoor with garden options I would check out the 2 zoos, pricing was not as high as other places and TONS of beautiful places to take photos and have your ceremony. We got married at the Woodland Park zoo and it was gorgeous and the price for everything was half compared to the other venues we looked into.

Too early to be certain that you'll have good weather.

We joke that summer doesn't really start until the Fourth of July. We got lucky for our 7/1 wedding in Oregon.

    Hi girls,

I appreciate you thoughts. The place I am renting has a big enough tent to hold all guests. The tent will be used as the reception area but in case of rain, they are able to add an aisle inside the tent to perform the ceremony. I am securing this place with a down payment but will also try to find another place with August or early September dates. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts :-)
