Help... I Don't LOVE My Venue

Victoria and Ralph, on February 19, 2014 at 10:03 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

I've gotten a lot of my planning done already, including my dress and my venue. I am obsessed with my dress. I look at pictures of it every day and am so excited about it. My venue, however, that is a different story. I picked it mainly because it's in my budget, which is on the lower side for New Jersey weddings. It is a very pretty venue, but it isn't exactly what I had in mind for my "dream" wedding.

I know sacrifices always have to be made to stay in budget, but I'm having a really hard time getting excited about my venue. What can I do to forget about the out of budget venues of my dreams?

Maybe you'll get more excited about it once you start planning decoration. Think about how you can personalize it and turn it into your vision.

I think that MM is right here you have to make that venue your dream venue and it is possible. Just start thinking of ways in which you can do it yourself to make it that way!!!

Good Luck and Happy Planning Smiley smile

Most eyes will be on you and your groom. The love of friends and family and their support will be what resounds from your wedding and not the look of the venue Smiley smile

I mean, there's only so much you can do. Money doesn't grow on trees.

I keep looking at their website's pictures and even pictures on photographers' websites of other weddings and the most I feel about it is literally "meh."

I always dreamed of a "Tara" wedding as I (and my mom) describe it. Basically the big Georgia mansion party with an outside cocktail hour and a giant estate surrounding me. (The "Tara" comes from Gone with the Wind.) My venue is nice on the inside but it is my no means an estate at all. The grounds are pretty blah and the outside is a typical wedding hall. The inside is pretty and I know people won't be focused on the venue, but it's just hard to give up this huge vision in my head.

Maybe you can rent some trees and "outdoor" type decorations to bring more of the outside feel inside. I totally hear you on the "Tara" theme. Honestly if I had my way my wedding would be late spring/early fall so I could have the ceremony outside but both FH and I had to make compromises on what we wanted and date was one of them. For me, ultimately I will make the venue work and just be happy to be married.
