Help finding a venue...in SoCal under 10k

Pamela, on January 6, 2016 at 3:37 AM Posted in Planning 1 14

I was hoping someone out there would give me an idea on how to have a wedding under 10,000.I will be getting married next year Sunday May,28,2017.I just find everything so expensive and I have family helping.I want it to be beautiful, simple and reasonably priced.I know that place exists and I have hope I will find a way.If any of you have an idea please tell me.I would be very grateful.The.The main thing that's hard for me is downsizing the list I just have way too much family(from my mom side) and my finance has met them all. It's also part of my culture to include all family and all our friends are in the bridal party. I have 130 on my list.So everyone I invited is family and a few close friends.Yes it's alot and I'm still trying to downsize the list.I was hoping to have a wedding ceremony outside and have a reception inside. Also I live near the murrieta/temecula area.I'm willing to travel to LA area. Please comment if you have any advice or know a place I would really appreciate it Smiley smile

When I was researching areas in Souther California I mostly looked in San Diego and came across the Marina Village and that seemed pretty affordable. It's just a venue, no catering, so you can bring in a caterer that works for your budget. I thought it looked pretty, you may have some strangers that could walk by, but overall I think it would be nice. And I think to rent the place it would be about $2000 for the whole day (maybe less, not sure). But it seems like something to check out!

ETA: I also had a friend get married at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. I think her wedding was on a smaller budget too, so that could be something to look into!

Is 10k for the venue and food? Or for the entire wedding? I know no one wants to hear to cut their guest list, but it is the #1 way to save money for a wedding.

Have you looked through any of the vendors on WW? That is the best place to find vendors and read reviews from past clients!

We are getting married at the Pomona Valley Mining Company. They take care of everything except for the DJ, photographer and officiant. We are having 100 guests and it's going to be about $8K for everything.

I looked into other places and had a really hard time finding anything that was in our price range. Pretty disappointing considering a wedding is only a day but maybe I'm just cheap lol

I have a friend that got married in Huntington Beach at the Newland Barn and it was fairly inexpensive. Also, there is Middle Ranch in Tujunga I've been to and the food was delicious! From what I remember don't quote me but they might waive the reception fee if you cater with their preferred vendor.

    And one more option https://eventup.com/

This site allows you to seek out venues even rental homes might be cheaper.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Pamela! I'm getting married at Menifee Lakes Country Club, it's a Wedgewood property. I have 125 guests, a significant amount of "upgrades" to my ceremony and reception, and it's $10K for the venue, food, DJ, and bar. Wedgewood is a great option because the packages are SO customizeable and they include a lot. I couldn't really find much else in the Temecula area that was within budget, so the rest of my recommendations are in OC.

Other places I found with similar budget numbers were Diamond Bar Golf Course, El Dorado Golf Course (Long Beach), Rec Park 18 (Long Beach), Mile Square GC, and David Baker GC.

A couple more I just remembered, Heritage Museum and Country Garden Caterers (they have a venue). Newland Barn as someone else said, but the venue is bare bones, you need to bring in everything and they hold a lottery for who gets it because it's so in demand.

I have a friend who is getting married at the Mission Bay Yacht Club in San Diego. I don't think it's very expensive and I know that the space will be large enough for you because she's planning on 150 people. It's super cute and right on the water.

Goodwill or thrift store for center pieces. Enlist your bridesmaids to help make them pretty. Faux flowers, silk. Amazon may be your best friend (saw a wedding gown for like $200)...and David's Bridal always has sales...one now for $99. Catering is the big part. Find a venue that allows you to bring in outside food and beverages, then buy alcohol wholesale. Look to do wedding and reception at the same location, cuts out transportation cost! Hope this helps a little, I'm all about saving money.

Wedgewood has many venues. Their packages can be reasonable. Not as "all inclusive" as they advertise but if you aren't looking for a celebrity style wedding you could pull of a 10k wedding.

It's the little things that add up. Get your cake from Sams or costo, hell even Walmart (no one will know the difference) same with your flowers! Think of friends and hobbies they have, maybe they can help. My co worker is a DJ (he went to school for engineering) he's doing our DJ'ing for $220! Things like that will really help you a lot.

Please be aware that venue is the most expensive part but factor in all the other things like vendors, dress, decorations, etc. We had a $10k budget for the venue in Southern California and found a venue for $8k (134 guests) but we've spent close to $19k after my dress, decorations, vendors etc. Just keep that in mind. It is VERY difficult in Southern California. Good luck Smiley smile
