Help - Courthouse marriage question

Millinea, on June 24, 2019 at 6:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
I’m trying to have a on the low courthouse marriage. No wedding . FAST. Can I get a marriage certificate in a different state than I’m in. Only reason being is the state that’s right beside me (not even 10 minutes, just cross the bridge) I can get married faster in. Anyway can I do everything in a different state ?

I think you have to get married in the state where you get the license. In some states you can waive the three day waiting period by paying an extra fee.

I think it varies by state, but I know in TX at least you have to have an hour or two of premarital counseling before you get you marriage license. I don’t know what state you’re looking at getting married in, but check their court house rules.

That is incorrect. Doing marriage counseling can reduce the fee but it’s not required.

Yes, you can get married in a state other than the one you live in. You'll need to get the marriage license in the state in which you are getting married, but if it's only 10 minutes away, that shouldn't be an issue.
