I got my dress back from the seamstress who insisted she “only does one fitting” for her brides. I am big breasted, so to give some support and look less saggy, she originally she added another cup on top of the existing one, and tightened the straps.

At my fitting, we determined that we were going to remove the second cups because it was literally cutting my boobs in half and that the tightened straps would be enough.

A note here that I have to tighten my straps on EVERYTHING. I don’t know if I have lower shoulders or something, but this is not a new issue.

So the problem is, I guess they’re too tight now? In just the 15 minutes I had the dress on, I had deep red marks on my shoulders. The seamstress said that it’s because of the sequins, but I think that the heavy dress is trying to hold itself up with the thin straps. When I originally tried it on, and prior to alterations, the straps weren’t uncomfortable at all, but obviously needed to be tightened (also when I picked the dress they clipped the straps tighter and that didn’t make the dress uncomfortable).

The only thing the seamstress could suggest is for us to go to Joanne’s fabric and get some foam to put under the strap. But they’re very, very thin, so not only is whatever it is going to show, we don’t even know if that will help or if it will make it more uncomfortable because now the shorter straps are raised higher. She also said that because of the sequins/beading, she can’t sew anything under them.
I am at a loss of what to do. My wedding is in 3 weeks, I live 3 hours south from the seamstress, and if my shoulders were so red 15 minutes in, I can’t imagine them all day plus the pain and irritation.

Here is a picture of my clipped dress when I chose it: Front and Back.
Here is a picture when we picked up my dress at the bridal shop.
Here is a picture at the final fitting. A note that she quickly took out one cup to see if that would look better, so my boobs look kinda lopsided here as the other still had two cups.
Here is a zoomed in picture of my shoulder. It’s hard to tell because of the veil, but I can still see the redness even through the veil.
Here is a picture of the altered dress hanging at my mom’s.

I did!! I bought a "Body Glide Stick" on amazon and it worked like a charm. Totally stopped the chafing.

Omgosh thank you!!! Do you think your straps were tight or it was more so the material irritating your skin? I had my final fitting today and my straps are definitely really right now that the dress has been tightened and the length is off the floor…. My shoulders were super red after wearing it for 15 minutes and they did go away within 15-20 min of taking my dress off im just super nervous about being that uncomfortable for that long!

I had both issues. The straps were too tight AND the material was rough! Look into getting some moleskin too. My straps were see-thru so I couldn’t really use it, but if yours are solid you may be able to cut some moleskin to fit underneath it. Most of its marketing for your feet/shoes but you can use it anywhere you have skin! Lol
