Heirloom Ring Insured?

Alicia, on December 5, 2018 at 2:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Hey everybody!

Because my engagement ring has been passed down through my FH family and has more sentimental value than monetary, does it make sense to insure the ring?

It is always a good idea to have it insured if there is a monetary value to it. Better to be on the safe side IMO

I work in insurance and I have this conversation a lot. If you just lost a stone or part of the ring could be used again, would you do so? If the ring were lost, would you replace it using insurance proceeds? If so, then yes definitely insure it. If you wouldn't want to replace or repurpose it then I wouldn't recommend insuring it.

Hi Alicia! You received some great feedback here in this thread! Smiley heart Brittany and MrsV1027 said it perfectly. I would also insure it, to be safe, whether it someday needed a repair, modification, or were to be lost. Smiley heart Out of curiosity, as I'm sure it's beautiful, what does it look like?

I think yes. Jewelry insurance is very inexpensive in my opinion and typically covers it for almost any type of loss, so I think it is worth the peace of mind

I think all rings should be insured. My ring is over 100 years old, it belonged to my great great grandmother. My fiance got it appraised & ensured an hour after he picked it up from being reset.
