Hey, everyone!
I have a very similar problem as most 2020 brides. Our venue doesn't know if we can still host the wedding there, which is a huge bummer. However, we were planning on getting married on 9/21 at the courthouse just to keep our original anniversary date as it is, now. My problem is, since I just secured an app for our marriage, what in the heck do I wear to it?
I have my wedding dress that I got in April, but since we may not have a wedding (not postponing since we are moving in early 2021, so it'll just be canceled or outside somewhere,) I don't want my dress to go to waste. Is there such a thing as overdressed to the court?
My wedding dress is floor length, long sleeves, open back, the entire thing donned in lace. It's gorgeous but I don't have a bra for it yet, nor do I have a shaper that will go unnoticed since I wasn't planning on having a ceremony until Halloween, as originally planned. But we figured we can just do a big Halloween party to celebrate.
Should I stay with the dress that I have and go in that? Or should I wait until early September to get my answer from our venue to see if we can even host the wedding there?
Thank you,
Very disgruntled and distraught bride
Edit: We will be taking photos, wedding or not, on Halloween in a park in Westfield NJ that is usually made up for Halloween due to the Addams Family creator being from there. So I was planning on donning my white wedding dress for those as well as my black reception dress that is more important to me.
