Head Table

Julia, on June 26, 2019 at 2:31 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 18

Most of the people in our wedding party have a significant other and some have children. I was thinking about doing a table for just me and my fiance, so that the wedding party can sit with their spouses and children. Has anyone done this before? Any thoughts or advice or a reason why I should have the wedding party at the head table with us?

We did a sweetheart table and I’m so glad we did. It gave us time to enjoy each other and we didn’t separate our wedding party from their families. I’ve never been a fan of head tables.

A sweetheart table is such a good idea because you get time with just your husband Smiley smile I mean you'll be with him the whole night but to have a chance to sit down and hopefully eat some of your meal together alone is nice.

I wanted one but didn't do it because it was too much extra in costs aha.

That’s a sweetheart table! And it’s super popular on here Smiley smile the last two weddings I've been to the bride and groom have done a sweetheart table.

We’re doing a kings table to we can sit with our wedding party and they can sit with their significant others.

I will have to look into this sweetheart table thing!

A Kind's table? That sounds regal! That's awesome that they will be able to sit with you as well as their SO.

    Thanks for the input!

According to the event coordinator at the historical venue we chose it was extremely popular n the Victorian era to do a couples or sweetheart table seated at the entrance to the banquet hall so everyone could see the couple as they came in.

Thanks Smiley smile Yeah, it's a long table in the center of the room with seating on both sides and round tables around it. We really want to sit down and eat with our peeps. I've never seen it in person but we’re hoping it works 🤞🏻

Yes, we are doing a sweetheart table. I really prefer them over head tables or kings tables. As a bridesmaid, I prefer sitting with my significant other & friends/family rather than being forced to sit at the front away from family and friends just to be by the bride and groom.

The larger your bridal party and the more people married/ with a partner and or kids the more difficult it is to seat people together. We are doing sweetheart table for us and our bridal party will sit with their families and friends among guests

Tons of people do this, it’s called a sweetheart table. I would choose it 1000 times over before separating my bridal party from their dates or families.

We are doing a sweetheart table for just the two of us that way we can sit back and take it all in and just enjoy everything even if it is for a moment. All of our wedding party has a s/o and most have children so doing one big table just seemed overwhelming for me. Also I'd actually like to get in a bite or two of food without having to constantly be in a conversation.

This is what we are doing. All of our wedding party members have spouses, and most of them have kids too. So, I want them to be able to sit with their families. They'll be with us all day, they should be able to eat dinner with their families.

I've never liked the head table anyway. We're doing a sweetheart table.

We are also doing a Kings table, except we aren't putting anyone in front of our seats.

I’ve actually never been to a wedding with a head table. It was something I learned about here on WW. I would go with a sweetheart table every day of the week so my guests could sit with their SOs and families.

I'm so happy that you are finding advice and support from the community!!

What is the general theme/style of your wedding? You could definitely get some inspiration from that for your sweetheart table decor.
