Head table vs sweetheart

What’s your thoughts on a sweetheart table vs a full head table? I’m stuck! I like the idea of hanging with our bridal party but I also like having a table for just them and their guests so their guests aren’t left hanging by themselves for dinner.

IMO, head tables aren't fair to your bridal party....unless everyone is like 20 years old with out families. My husband was in a wedding that had a head table, and I had to sit alone with our children. It was a miserable experience. I will always vote for a Sweet Heart table!

Sweetheart table! I absolutely hate head tables. It separates people in wedding party from their SO. And it looks like the last supper, no need for it.

People have strong opinions on this topic. I'm not one of them.

I think it all depends on the venue honestly. If your venue is an open space then you can really change it up...you can do a kings table where the wedding party and their families sit at one big table in the front of the venue. The thing that can be a turnoff, and what make it different than a head table, is that people sit on both sides of the table so people will have their backs to the rest of your guests.

The sweetheart table option is the new thang to do. I think it's a nice alternative but it doesn't always work. For example, my venue has a stage setup in the front. If I were to have a sweetheart table it'd look pretty bare up there.

Traditionally, a head table is what most expect when they walk into a reception. I like the look of them, personally, and I think it allows for some amazing pictures because it makes everything look more grand. But some feel head tables are more of an inconvenience because for about an hour your wedding party may be separated from their loved one and people don't like that.

In the end, it's your wedding and whatever you decide is the best decision. Don't let anyone, including members of your wedding party, push you into something that you don't want.

We were stuck too. My mom brought up the fact that everyone wants to come and say hi to you all the time! If you have your bridal party with you they can help Felix people and ask them to leave you alone while you are eating haha. My FH also didn’t want to feel like he was isolated from the people that we want t stand up with us.

This thread is definitely making me reconsider a sweetheart table! I was initially against it because I don't want to be gawked at, but with my MOH being a new mom, I think it'd be nice to have her with her family. It would also solve the issue of where the heck do I sit my mom's BFF (who only knows me and my mom) if my mom is at the head table...
